We're very excited for the release of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga later this spring, and now the team at TT Games has conducted an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine about its progress.
Lead hub designer Dawn McDiarmid told the outlet that the extra development time since the game was delayed last year has allowed the team to "polish and refine the systems and features that needed that extra little bit of love".
"Our amazing team has been pulling out all the stops for this one, even while the whole studio adjusted to working from home."
McDiarmid went on to discuss some of the new features being added to the game, such as ADS (aiming down sight) shooting, a more in-depth quest system and random space encounters, as well as confirming that the game will feature 300 playable characters and 23 planets (with 28 unique locations to visit).
"There were around 300 playable characters made for this game but altogether about 800 unique characters were made. Our character team did a truly amazing job."
"There are 23 planets/moons with 28 unique locations that the player can visit, each full of quests, challenges, items, and characters to find. If you have a favourite Star Wars location it's pretty likely you can visit it in-game."
Looking forward to the release of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga? Let us know in the comments.

Really need online multiplayer guys. Please don't leave it out.
@Zochmenos For a game most likely to be played on the couch with your kids?
I am looking forward to this game, but still feel tempted the headline should had been rewritten as "Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Will Feature 23 [Levels], 300 Playable Character [Skins]" because lets face it, as much as I love lego games, most the "characters" are just skins.
@Tharsman The planets for these games aren't just going to be single levels, they're hubs with loads of stuff to do like in The Force Awakens I believe.
But I know where you're coming from!
@RadioHedgeFund I would hope, as the makers of the original LEGO: Star Wars games, they would realize the kids on the couch are now 15yrs older than when we all started these adventures on PS2, XBOX, and Gamecube. We still wanna finish the fight with our friends and family who are out of town.
(Edited for clarity.)
That's a lot of locations to be visiting and doing stuff in. More than ever this is looking the greatest LEGO game ever. Hoping next month gives us the release date.
@FraserG oh I know, I was mostly being facetious since I'm replaying one of my old favorites (Lego City Undercover.)
BTW, that brings to mind... whatever happened to the Series X upgrade-to-60fps thing we heard before launch? Playing older games is becoming hard after experiencing 60fps. Has there been any word from MS on that front that I might had missed?
@Tharsman Nothing since the Fallout 4 update (which hasn't been released yet) unfortunately! Although Jason Ronald has confirmed again today that it's still in the works.
