EA Isn't Planning To Add More Content To Star Wars: Squadrons

Last week's release of Star Wars: Squadrons saw the game receive a largely positive reception (we gave it an 8/10 in our review here at Pure Xbox), but according to EA, there are no plans to support it with post-launch content.

This was pointed out by creative director Ian Frazier in a recent interview with UploadVR, who explained that the team has taken an "old-school approach" to developing the game:

“Never say never, so to speak, but as far as our philosophy goes we’re not trying to treat the game as a live service. We don’t want to say, ‘It’s almost done!’ and then dribble out more of it over time, which to be honest is how most games work these days. So we’ve tried to treat it in kind of an old-school approach saying, ‘You’ve paid the $40, this is the game and it’s entirely self-contained. We’re not planning to add more content, this is the game, and we hope you understand the value proposition.'”

This is obviously in contrast to some of EA's other major Star Wars titles, with both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and particularly Star Wars Battlefront II receiving significant post-launch additions in recent years.

Of course, EA will continue providing patches and support for Star Wars: Squadrons, but as of now, it looks like no DLC, extra modes or any other updates along those lines is in the works for the title.

Sad about this, or do you like the approach? Give us your thoughts in the comments.
