GameStop CEO Suggests Xbox Series X Still Expected In 2020

According to GameStop CEO George Sherman, both the Xbox Series X and PS5 are still expected to be ready for Holiday 2020. The news was shared via an earnings conference call (thanks IGN), where the CEO mentioned that "as of now," there's been "no indication of any impact on the product launch or delivery date". Sherman says the company will "continue to work with the console makers as the launch approaches."

As for the company itself, Sherman says the "situation remains fluid" in regards to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the retailer. We reported last week that GameStop was to close all stores and move to a digital-only focus for the time being, but in terms of whether shipping or delivery delays have affected them, Sherman says "any impact has been minimal." However, it's also been reported today that GameStop is planning to close another 300 stores in the coming year.

We've heard from multiple analysts recently sharing their thoughts on potential delays to both the Xbox Series X and PS5, and there have been some differing opinions. For now though, all we can assume is that it's business as usual, and hopefully we'll all be getting our hands on a next-gen system later this year.

Do you still think Xbox Series X will be released in 2020? Give us your thoughts in the comments.
