There are some notable absences with more requested titles such as Red Dead Redemption, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Skyrim not making the list. However Microsoft were keen to point out "You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December." and went on to say that titles coming to the service would include "fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3"
What titles do you own and would like to give a second whirl? Are there any titles you'd be tempted to pick up? Let us know in the comments below.

I thought Sonic 1 and 2 got removed from the Xbox Live Arcade.
Kinda surprised by Bloodrayne, I mainly remember that series being awful! They choose this over all the other games that people were crying out for?
Hmm...
@CrazyOtto They were delisted from the Japanese store only as far as I understood, the links are still taking to product.
@Red620Ti I think its more a case of them fitting in which titles they could get the approval for/those that run properly vs picking over others. Games will come in time Burnout Paradise is confirmed but not on the list so there is certainly more to come.
Surprised to see the Sega Vintage Collection and Metal Slug games on there so soon. No fighting games though.
There's a bunch of good stuff here, but surprisingly not one of the games I voted for is on this list. (If I recall correctly, I voted for Red Dead, Trials Evolution, Sonic Racing Transformed, Sonic Generations, and Double Dragon Neon.) I really, really hope Microsoft keeps up with this commitment and adds a large number of games every month. I'd like to retire my Xbox 360 soon since it runs like hell.
@Red620Ti Comes down to the devs, mainly. With the third-party titles, the developer has to go to Microsoft and ask for it to be added to the service. Then the devs have to make any required changes to make it work.
Given Majesco's catalogue of games, Bloodrayne is probably about the best they could have come up with.
R-type I bought this arcade
Does that mean I would receive r-type for free!
I don't think so 😞
No Skyrim???
falls on knees with hands in the air
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
@narcoss Yes, that's exactly what it means.
If you bought it digitally on Xbox 360, it'll be free for you to download and play on Xbox One.
@DRL I hope they keep their commitment too, I'm worried it will be like 1-3 games a month. The way Spencer talks about it as "the biggest games lineup in xbox history" seems to indicate it will be a substantial amount of games pretty quickly
Why Fable 2 but not Fable Anniversary?
Does this mean they will now be on the Xbox store for the Xbox One so I could buy ones I do not have through my Xbox One
An underwhelming list in my opinion.
Out of curiosity did anybody here who bought Gears Ultimate get their codes for the other games? I still haven't received them but I read they're supposed to start rolling out the same time as backwards compatibility.
@Gamer83 I've been told that the codes for the back-compat versions of GoW1, 2, 3 and Judgment will be sent out starting December 1st.
@SuperKMx
Thanks for the info.
@TwilightAngel
I agree, this list is kind of a disappointment, considering the dramatic buildup Microsoft did to announce them. I already have all the titles I own from being in preview, so this means nothing >.>
I was waiting for this list for a long time. I wonder if Banjo Nuts & Bolts or the backwards compatibility engine will be improved because everybody says the preview version has a choppy frame rate! I'm also interested in Nights into Dreams, Rayman 3 HD because I've never played them before. I've been waiting for Sonic CD for ages, too!
My biggest disappointment is that there are no Capcom games. I missed PS3 and Xbox 360 and I want to have Resident Evil 5 and 6, as well as Super Street Fighter II Turbo Remix in my gaming library!
All-right, NiGHTS! This is my first time playing through this game and it's marvelous. Here's what I voted for:
"Sonic The Hedgehog 4
"Ecco The Dolphin"
"Sonic Championship"
"Sonic Adventure"
"SEGA Bass Fishing"
"Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed"
Oh, and Mass Effect.
No Blue Dragon
Personally I don't care about the Backwards Compatibility. I never took advantage of that feature with the 360 - which I still have and its still set-up but haven't played for a long time. I have a growing backlog of generation 8 games to play...
That being said, I know a lot of people will use it and get a lot from it so I think its a good feature. I guess it may be useful with the GWG offerings. The 360 titles are supposed to be coming to BC too so I could play some of the 360 games I don't have without having to turn on my 360...
Actually, the game I really want to get now would be Project Zero/Fatal Frame 1 Special Edition (but it's on Xbox).
@Utena-mobile I couldn't agree more. PlayStation Now is not for me either. I never know when I'll have time for playing, I don't have great Internet connection and I like having my own collection of games and no rush to play them, not a huge collection but the games that make me feel something special like this series does.
I'm very excited about Xbox 1 games on Xbox One (pun not intended) if that means Fatal Frame (Project Zero) Special Edition (improved version of the original) and Conker Reload (not included in Rare Replay). About PS, PS4 is the only PS I own, so I'm still hoping for PS2 games to be digitally available for download, like they were last generation, because I suppose is impossible for PS4 to play PS2 discs. PS1 games would be a plus. If they can't make PS4 backwards compatible then they can create the emulators like Microsoft did, I'm sure PS4 is powerful enough.
I've got 22 games from that list. Viva Pinata:TIP was curiously in the middle of updating when I turned on the Xbone this morning, seems they are still improving the emulation even with games already on Preview.
@SuperKMx
Do you know if any version will work then? Like ok, let's say I want to buy the physical disc for Fallout 3 now. Is the GotY Edition compatible too or just the vanilla version?
And what about double and triple packs? I know many of these games were included on discs containing more than one game. Will those also work to unlock the digital download?
***EDIT
Another scenario would be like, Mass Effect. Clearly the trilogy is the way to go, but would the game being on the trilogy disc be enough to unlock the download?
A lot of questions I know...
@JaxonH Honestly, I don't 100% know the answers to any of those questions!
I would imagine that any version of Fallout 3 would work, since the GOTY edition is just the standard game plus the DLC, and the standard version is...well...the standard version. Simply comes down to if Microsoft have enabled the console to read each specific version of the disc, I guess, unless the detection is smarter than that. I really don't know. I can't see that they'd leave one version out though.
Double and triple packs with games on the same disc might be more troublesome. The console just sees what's on the disc and downloads the Xbox One-packaged version of it, but I don't know if there's anything in there to account for two or three games being on a disc at the same time.
As for Mass Effect Trilogy...that's a thinker. Genuinely couldn't say. Mass Effect is available to Preview Program members at the moment, so maybe someone who has the Trilogy version can tell us?!
