Xbox Game Pass Subscriptions
The ultimate gift for Xbox fans has to be a Game Pass subscription. With an active Game Pass subscription, Xbox players gain immediate access to lots of fantastic games as soon as they launch at no extra cost.
Below, we're offering vouchers for Game Pass Ultimate, the best tier of Xbox Game Pass which provides access to hundreds of games across console, PC and cloud, and PC Game Pass, a service for those who only play games on PC, not on Xbox consoles.

Xbox Series X|S Consoles
If you're looking for an Xbox console to get someone started, or perhaps just a newer model as a very special treat for a loved one, here are the best options available for this year's holiday season:
⭐️ Best Overall Choice: Xbox Series X
The Xbox Series X is Microsoft's flagship console, offering the best console gaming experience Xbox players can hope for, and a system that's easy to recommend for anyone who wants to get the absolute most out of their Xbox gaming.
An all-new 2TB model joins the usual 1TB system this year – note that the white 1TB console is the only digital-only model here (meaning it can't play discs and is a little cheaper); the black consoles, in both 1TB and 2TB sizes, can play discs and are considered more premium options.
You can't really go wrong with any of these, but that 2TB model is the cream of the crop. If you're after something a little more affordable, consider the Xbox Series S console detailed below.
💰 Best Budget Choice: Xbox Series S
The Xbox Series S is the cheaper of the two consoles, doing away with the disc drive to offer a digital-only console aimed at those who wish to only play games via Game Pass and through digital purchases. If buying games physically isn't essential and you're wanting to find the most affordable entry point into the world of Xbox, this is it.
It originally launched with just 512GB of storage, but new, bigger and better 1TB models have arrived just in time for Christmas this year – search for available options with your size and colour preferences below:
Xbox Games
An Xbox Game Pass subscription may well be the best way to jump into lots of new games quickly (scroll up to find the best Game Pass subscriptions available), but there's nothing quite like unwrapping physical games at Christmas.
Below, we've rounded up some of the very best and must-have Xbox games available at retail this holiday season. If it's listed here, we're certain they'll love it:
Xbox Gift Cards
Perhaps the most versatile gift for any Xbox player is an Xbox Gift Card. With these, the recipient can add the credit you buy to their Xbox account, allowing them to buy any games, subscriptions, additional game content, and more of their choosing.
You can buy Xbox Gift Cards directly from us here at Pure Xbox. Simply choose your preferred amount below to be taken to our store – when you make your purchase, you'll receive a voucher code for your chosen amount that you can either use yourself or send to a friend or family member. Easy!
Xbox Controllers
A new controller is always an ideals gift for any gamer, either to use as a backup, or to enable multiplayer fun. Here are some of the best Xbox controllers that money can buy.
⭐️ Best of the Best: Official Xbox Controllers
As you might expect, you really can't go wrong with Microsoft's official controller offerings when playing on Xbox – we've never come away disappointed from the official options available for Xbox Series X|S. Here are our top picks.
Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2
A premium pad designed for hardcore players who really want to get the most out of their gaming, the Elite Series 2 controller offers fantastic levels of comfort and, importantly, customisation. Perfect for anyone who wants an advantage when competing against friends, this controller lets you swap out parts to build the ultimate design for your own playstyle and also boasts adjustable-tension thumbsticks and shorter hair trigger locks allowing for smoother, faster control.
Xbox Wireless Controller
The controller that you'll find bundled with consoles, the Xbox Wireless Controller is what you'll find most players using on a day-to-day basis. This is the latest iteration of Xbox's standard pad, offering a very comfortable and satisfying gaming experience that makes it easy to recommend – it's also far cheaper than the Elite Series controllers, which is always a plus.
You can browse multiple colours of the Xbox Wireless Controller through the Amazon link below.
💰 Best Budget Controller: Turtle Beach React-R Controller
The React-R controller from Turtle Beach is a little different to your usual controller, and comes at a great, affordable price point. Officially licensed for Xbox, this controller features two mappable buttons that you can set to your preferred function and quick-access audio controls, allowing you to adjust game and chat volume balance on the fly. Naturally, you'll want to plug your headphones directly into the controller to get the most out of it!
✅ Best Designs: PowerA
If looks are important – and let's face it, a pretty controller makes for a great gift – PowerA has a range of affordable pads with some awesome designs.
You'll find a mixture of wired and wireless options available, sporting all sorts of designs in multiple colours and sometimes inspired by top games. They also come at a variety of price points depending on their specific features. Here are some of our favourites that have launched recently.
Xbox Headsets
Whether you're wanting to enjoy your gaming without disturbing everyone else in the house, or simply wanting to chat with friends whilst playing online, a great headset is an essential piece of kit for any Xbox owner.
Below, we've listed our top choices for headsets compatible with Xbox consoles to save you the worry of choosing between hundreds of different makes and models. The headsets featured here will go down a treat as a gift this Christmas.
⭐️ Best Wireless Headset For Xbox: SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro
When it comes to the best wireless headphones for gaming at a price point reflective of the headset's quality, you'll find the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless sitting right near the top of almost everyone's list.
Endorsed by popular gaming streamers, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pros boast active noise cancellation tech to immerse you in your gameplay, have truly wonderful sound quality, and come with two easily-swappable rechargeable batteries so that you never run out of juice.
If you're looking for a premium set at an impressive price point, these are a fantastic choice.
⭐️ Best Wired Headset For Xbox: Razer BlackShark V2 X
Wired headsets often save you quite a bit of cash, but still offer the same excellent sound quality.
The BlackShark V2 X is one such headset that's lightweight and comes with comfortable memory foam ear cushions, perfect for longer gaming sessions. Its noise-isolating microphone is great for chatting with friends in games like Fortnite, and a Windows-only 7.1 Surround Sound feature make these even better if you happen to play games on PC as well as your console.
💰 Best Budget Headsets For Xbox:
There are plenty of budget headsets available on the market these days, allowing you to plug in and play at very little cost. Below, we've gathered three more affordable wired headsets from brands we can wholeheartedly recommend – just bear in mind that the sound quality and comfort, whilst still more than good enough for playing on your console, won't quite match the more expensive options listed above.
Xbox Expansion Cards & Hard Drives
One of the most important – and most often overlooked – gift ideas for gamers is a storage solution that lets you store more games on your console. By using expansion cards or USB hard drives, Xbox owners are able to store more of their digital games, meaning that they won't run out of storage and have to keep deleting games that they've purchased.
The difference between the two options is important (expansion cards plug into your console and allow you to store and play games directly from the device, whilst a USB hard drive is an external device that can store games, but cannot play them, meaning you need to keep transferring games back and forth between it and your console). This makes expansion cards the stronger choice, but you'll pay a little more for the privilege. Here are the best options...
⭐️ Best Xbox Expansion Card: Seagate Storage Expansion Card
A super popular option amongst Xbox owners – and for good reason – is the Seagate Storage Expansion Card. Designed in partnership with Xbox, these expansion cards let you seamlessly play Xbox Series X|S games from the internal SSD or the expansion card without sacrificing gameplay quality like graphical power, latency, and load times. A perfect way to boost your Xbox's storage with no downsides.
✅ Honourable Mention: WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card
A very close second place, and therefore worthy of an honourable mention in the expansion card department, is the WD_BLACK C50. Just like the Seagate models listed above, this expansion card was also designed specifically for Xbox and is a great way to store and play more games on your console.
⭐️ Best Hard Drive for Xbox: Seagate Game Drive
A cheaper way to add lots more storage to your Xbox setup is with one of these Seagate Game Drives. These hard drives plug into your console via USB, allowing you to store as many downloaded games as they can hold. The only downside is that you can't play games stored on a hard drive – you'll need to transfer them over to your console before playing (the expansion cards listed above avoid this problem, but cost a little more).
The bigger the hard drive size, the more games you'll be able to store. That 8TB model is a beast!
More Xbox Gaming Accessories
If the controllers, headsets, and expansion cards above aren't enough, there's plenty more where they came from. Here are some of our favourite Xbox accessories that you might not have thought about...
⭐️ Best Xbox Accessory: UPspec Gaming xScreen
A truly awesome accessory for anyone who has an Xbox Series S console, the xScreen from UPspec serves as a portable screen for your system. Simply plug your console into the screen, and away you go – perfect for taking your console out of the house or for anyone who'd like an alternative setup to playing on the TV. Read our full review of the xScreen to learn more.

Books
Know someone who's a bit of a bookworm? Why not give them a new read to get stuck into over the holidays by picking up one of our top recommendations below?
✅ Best Gaming History: The Console Chronicles
The Console Chronicles is a tribute to five decades of home console gaming, including the Xbox consoles we've all grown up with and so much more. It focuses on people's personal stories with the consoles we all hold dear, celebrating their history and offering a nostalgic trip back in time.
A full disclosure on this one: Lost in Cult's The Console Chronicles was made in collaboration with ourselves here at Hookshot Media. You'll actually find some of our staff members sharing their own stories in the book!
✅ Artbooks: Three Top Picks
So many games are treated to glorious artbooks these days, so we've scoured the internet to find a small selection of books covering very different games all available on Xbox. Each offers a fascinating glimpse into the art of its corresponding game, giving fans a real treat that'll serve wonderfully as a collector's item for years to come.
✅ Best Strategy Guides: Elden Ring
Future Press' series of Elden Ring strategy guides are truly a sight to behold, featuring hundreds and hundreds of pages of information to help you beat what is, without question, one of the most difficult games in recent memory.
The first two volumes are sadly difficult to come by these days – you might want to try your luck on eBay for the best prices – but the third volume, dedicated to the game's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, is available to pre-order as we speak. Don't miss it!
Xbox Christmas Cards
Want to go the extra mile and make their Christmas even more Xbox-themed?

⭐️ Best Homeware: Xbox Mini Fridge & Toaster
You might be asking why you can buy official fridges and toasters that look like Xbox consoles, but what you should be asking is why you haven't bought one yet...
These replica Xbox appliances went down amazingly well with the gaming community when they first launched, and it's easy to see why – glancing over at your toaster and enjoying the ridiculous fact that it looks just like your Xbox Series S is just a wonderful thing. Both of these are perfect gifts for Xbox fans:

It’s still September
Wait till after Halloween then go mad it's to early for this!
Christmas come on lol its September
oh FFS behave... it's September!!!
I work in retail. We've had Christmas stuff on shelves for a few weeks. It's ridiculous there and it's ridiculous here.
Absolutely disagree with the best budget headset.
The Microsoft Xbox headset, depending if on sale, etc, is $70-$99 from what I've seen. It is AMAZING! Especially at that price.
Build quality, sound quality, able use Bluetooth while in party chat with game audio all at same time. Awesome.
Really do not overlook that headset for great headset and great price.
Also like ask where are the Xbox onsies from Microsoft?
I bought a couple every year from Xbox store. Not seen them in like 3-4 years? Comfy and great for being a lazy bum playing Xbox all day in cold weather. Had hood, ton pockets, nice zipper. Only downside if had go number two. Had unzip the entire front down, take arms out, then lower it. Then repeat process to get all fixed up again.
Not best for gaming on high fiber diet, that's for sure.
Wow, that's thorough!
“The only downside is that you can’t play games stored on a Hard Drive”….?!…..
….You absolutely CAN. All backwards compatible - OG Xbox, 360 and XB1 games play 100% fine from a HDD, as do all X/S games that are “Gen. 9 Aware” (Crysis Trilogy Remastered, AC Odyssey, Origins, Far Cry 5, Halo MC Collection, etc, etc). You only need internal storage (or an ‘official’ X/S storage expansion) to run genuine X/S titles.
@GuyinPA75 - completely agree, I’ve just started to pay Hellblade 2 and the headphones are fantastic for that.
It's not even October yet they already have cream eggs on Christmas Eve
