Bump for an answer to the above - I really miss the GS leaderboard and being able to browse through my games and achievements full screen. Cheers.

@stylon: I don't know if the GS leaderboards are on the new dashboard and to be honest, I don't miss it and haven't looked for it either. I would prefer to look at specific game achievements in full screen as they do have (well some anyway) some nice artwork but haven't played a game where I have wondered what achievements I am missing to even look. This is the main reason I didn't respond

I use my console purely for gaming and don't chase achievements either. I will go for 'some' of they fit into my current gaming play - things like objective achievements in a mission that I am playing but certainly don't go out of my way to get some. It also annoys me that Xbox wants to be the 'gaming equivalent of Facebook/Twitter by having an 'activity feed' even in the Xbox App where its the first thing shown. Maybe I am in the majority but all I want to do is turn on my console and play the game I intended straight away with maybe a cursory glance at my 'friends' list if it happens to be a co-op/mp based game.

I do miss the option to send game and party invites instead of having to send both a game and a party invite - often the second gets 'lost' if they are sent to close to each other. The latest updates appear to have 'fixed' my 2 main issues - Disc games not loading/being recognised on start-up and the Party Chat not working. I do prefer the older layout even if it doesn't perform that well - the new layout doesn't seem that much quicker to me - not for what I do anyway. I still think the 360's performed better.

If my latest update is anything to go by though, It will be 'functional' when it launches for everyone if not with some of the functions of the older one.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

I miss the leader board a lot. Me and my mates at work (who also have xboxes) get a lot of mileage out of the friendly competition of who can get to the top of the board, who's languishing at the bottom etc. Very childish I suppose but it was a feature I really liked and used every day... my mates haven't got the new dash yet but when they do I know they won't be happy if that feature has gone for good :- (

@stylon: I know that for some, certain features like this are and will be missed if they are not included in the final build. I was just saying that as I don't use or have a need for it, I haven't actually looked to see if its 'hidden' or moved somewhere so can't actually help you. I was mainly trying to acknowledge your post and explain the reason why I hadn't even noticed this (and some other) features wasn't even there anymore.

@Stylon - I think you can open the achievements full screen from the game hub for each title. I'm afraid I agree with a lot of Bamozzys comments. I'm not a fan of the new layout. Maybe it'll grow on me, but either way I'm stuck with it :S

Yeah I found the game hub but that's a pretty crap way to browse your games and achievements. I loved the way you could previously just scroll through your recently played Xbox One, 360 and even Windows games and then select one and check out the achievements you've got or are missing and also check out what the current challenges are.

I do like the new dash for what it has added to the system but I also hate it for what it seems to have taken away. The snap feature is a pain in the arse now unless I'm missing a trick... it used to be dead easy but now I have to bring up the guide and scroll right to the bottom of it to reach snap an app and then it brings up the list of apps...

I suppose it's the 360 all over again. We started out with the blades and then got the 'NXE' and then finally the Metro style... There was always a period of 'adjustment' but I always preferred the NXE (I think it was called that) and hated the metro one...

This new dash maybe inspired by Win10 but it certainly doesn't feel like Win10. Apps etc can be pinned, moved easily and even delete the ones you never use/want - I don't have the New IE pinned along with other MS apps (travel, Films & TV etc) ANYWHERE on my laptop. My Dashboard ONLY has what I use and want! Pins and Gaming seem to be furthest from he Home screen! Directly under the main block is a load of 'rubbish' that I never use apart from the very last one - the disc in the console, below this is the Pins!
The new Sidebar does make it a bit easier to access certain features but I don't think certain things (like friends, messages etc) load up quicker. I never liked the 'snap' feature so I don't miss that but I know some will. Overall it feels like 1 step forward but 3-4 steps back!My personal opinion is that the dashboard and UI is by far the worst aspect of the console. Compared to the PS4, its biggest rival, it takes a lot longer to boot-up and get into a game. It also seems a lot more complicated to find a lot of the similar features too.

Everything does seem more complicated. I was playing Halo with @crippyD the other day and I spent most of the first mission trying to get the chat to work. Eventually we both had to bail back to desktop, start an Xbox party and ignore the halo one. Didn't help that we both had different dashboards. I was trying to send instructions for a dash he didn't have yet. Lol I died a LOT while trying to get it working. By the time we got it running ok, he had to leave 😊😊

@Red620Ti That's only for your benefit
@sorethumbed I don't think its exclusively to the new dash as I was playing with a mate last night and had the same issue. Also, you up for continuing our play through in the not too distant future? Sorry for the swift departure, bit of a minor emergency kicked off indoors.

@BAMozzy:
I have to disagree with you, the new sidebar/guide loads up incredibly fast, way WAY faster than the old UI. Also, you can still snap apps like you always could, but it loads faster now. And with instant on, the console boots up and is ready to play in 10 seconds max, with the game still loaded from your previous session. It can't get much faster than that.

The sidebar itself is quite quick to scroll too but it still takes a while (few seconds or so) for the friends and messages to load in - on start up at least - Its certainly not instantaneous! I guess its slightly quicker than the original dashboard as both are more accessible. On the older dash, you had to load up the 'Friends' app and then if you want to check messages too, select them from this App and wait for them to load up. For getting into Party's and Games it takes longer now as you can't invite people to both simultaneously - you have to invite to one, wait until they have joined and then invite to the other because if you send both invites too quickly, the second gets 'lost' - doesn't even appear in 'notifications'. I know that it is quicker once the console has been running for a while as these have loaded in but initially its not as quick. I also think it takes a few seconds to go to the home screen from in a game too - when you press the home (xbox) button, the console freezes for a few seconds before it works. On earlier builds, after a while (several hours of gaming), it wouldn't even go home for me. All of these things are quicker on a PS4 - well apart from the inviting friends to party and game simultaneously.
A complete start up from power save (i.e properly shut down and not in some form of 'stand-by' mode) takes ages to boot up and get into a game. Even in standby mode it can get quicker - the PS4's standby mode!! However I prefer to switch my consoles off when not in use or unlikely to be re-used in the next hour or 2 at the max.
The reason I mention the PS4 is because I do have one and can compare. Its probably twice as quick to boot up from a complete shutdown and to get into a game, returning to the home page is instantaneous, as is accessing friends and messages too. I know the XB1 does do things the PS4 can't and has certain aspects that are better. Its not like the PS4 is better in every way but it also shows that in some aspects, the XB1 is 'lagging' behind - pun intended

@BAMozzy: I wasn't accusing you of bias or anything, apologies if I came out that way . Even if it does take 3 seconds to load at first, that's still much faster than before. You had to load the snap, then load the party, then load the list of friends just to invite people, it was outrageous. Also, I think the reason it's slow to go home is because it's waiting to see if you're going to press the xbox button twice to open guide. Doing that is super unresponsive, and works only about half the time, it's my main qualm with the new dash. I also never noticed that you cant invite party and game at the same time...how bizarre! Surely that will come eventually I'd hope. If you don't mind sharing, can I ask why you don't use instant on for your Xbox? I'm just curious is all

I don't use instant on for safety and power consumption primarily. Its not something I like to do for anything more than an hour or 2 at max and then its only because I have something large downloading or to pause a 'session' whilst I eat or do something different for a very short time.

I always use instant on personally, it's one of the best features of next gen gaming, being able to shut down your console for the night mid-game and boot back up instantly the following day exactly where you left off. Sure it probably uses a couple of watts of electricity but I don't care, it's insignificant next to consumption of other stuff that is used daily in our house and the convenience it brings outweighs any cost for me.

So does anybody with the new dash also have their Sky TV box going through their Xbox? I watched Sky for the first time since getting the new dash last night and had some pretty annoying problems with the video lagging... the longer I watched the worse it got. Turning Sky box off and back on cured it for a while as did rebooting Xbox. Fast forwarding through ads also exacerbated the problem. It works fine if plugged straight into TV and worked fine before the new dash...

@Stylon. Sorry no. I connected Sky to XB1 when it was first available but as soon as I realised the HDMI passthru wouldn't work on standby I disconnected it again.

Wait, so is Xbox One going to be treated like a PC now, or is it just the dashboard and apps? Seems kind of miss from what I saw.
