I rather like this black sheep of a Kinect dance game. Anyone else playing it? I can't compare it to Dance Central as I only have DM. I'm a DDR fan and so, actually a little hesitantly, wen with this one instead, and now that I have it I don't regret it at all. The game works great and is a lot of fun. Any word on if there will be downloadable tracks for it?
Dance Central is much more dancer friendly because it does provide a "Break it Down" mode so you can actually learn the dance and the songs appeal to a much wider audience.
Being a dancer, I do like this game still. I love the challenge it possesses and it looks pretty hitting all the markers, haha. I don't know when DLC will be available though.
It could use a training mode, but I haven't had any big problems so far. I'm in the minority by definition, but I don't like top 40 music, or at least not much of it. I like the music in Dance Masters in part because I don't hear it at the grocery store!
I like how it puts you in the game. It's a bit fuzzy, but I still get a kick out of that. It takes too long to save a live action, though, but fun seeing 3 former selves dancing along.
I'm pretty eclectic so it's nice to dance to music you're familiar with along with having something different to switch to. Plus I've been always been into J-Pop (wish there was K-pop, haha) so it's a fun game for me, and my sister.
I actually don't like how it puts you in the game since it's so shame looking, especially with the delay so you stick out like a sore thumb. If the timing was perfect, it'd be fine but yeah, that delay kills the insertion of the person by the dancer.
I don't mind the controls. I really like the raise right hand to accept, raise left to go back approach. Better then holding on a specific spot. For moving through choices, start with hand at your middle (your chest) and swipe left or right from there. You can then hold left or right to scan through. It was annoying until I figured that out.
I haven't played Dance Central, though. Perhaps I'll be annoyed with DM's menus once I do.
It does lend itself to making more mistakes when selecting since the moment you raise your hand, the game could read that motion and move one more time. I remember one of my friends was so confused by the navigation that she literally turned sideways and pretended to push the menu, haha. We were cracking up XD
Dance Central does have a good amount of non mainstream songs so while you will hear songs you've heard tons of times before on the radio, there's a lot of old school songs you might be amused to hear/dance to and other songs you've probably never heard of that came out recently.
