@BowsersBuddy Hmmm I still have not received the One X but do plan on trying out if the game works. I'm suspecting its a hardware thing but I will test it. Maybe I'll go for Xbox 360, maybe One X, it just depends the price of repair. If it's a wee too high, I'll conform with Xbox One and start over. If I can salvage my 10hrs that would be cool.
Thanks for your help.

@RDDMarston SSD can help with Storage capacity. The XB1X comes with 1TB so if you connect a 2TB SSD via USB, you've essentially got 3TB's of Storage. However the 2TB SSD will load games and stream assets in quicker - you will see 'less' texture Pop-in for example than if you stored games on the internal HDD. It improves the One X a bit, but not to the same degree an SSD works on Series S.

The Series S has a 'better' CPU than the PS5 in some ways but for 'arguments' sake, lets say the slight differences in speed etc makes 'negligible' difference, then the Series S, PS5 and Series X have basically the same CPU. 4TF is meaningless - the 4.2TF GPU in the PS4 Pro can't render the same Res or higher Quality visual settings that the Series S can offer - its often delivering better visuals at 'double' the Frame Rate.

What you need to remember is that 'Graphics' tend to scale and the Series S is about 1/3rd the GPU of a Series X and 1/3rd res of 4k is about 1296p. Things like Physics, AI etc is often handled by CPU and on't scale with Res. 100 enemies with unique AI, Physics, hit detection etc still require the same computational resources at 1080p or 4k so the fact the Series S isn't compromising on CPU means that its designed to 'scale' down Graphics but not affect the way the Game is designed.

That means that the Series S should still play the SAME games but obviously not at the same 'Graphical' settings - especially not resolution. When you are processing over 8m Pixels at 4k, you need a lot more Graphical horsepower than pushing EXACTLY the same Graphical settings at 1080p (2m+ pixels). On a 1080p TV, 4k and 1440p look basically the same anyway - its just a bit 'softer' on a 4k TV because its 'upscaling' to fill 8m pixels. Starfield is 1440/30 on Series S and 4k on Series X, but if you only have a 1080p TV for example, the game will be graphically the same, play the same etc on either- you couldn't tell them apart at normal viewing distances - so yes, the Graphics will look 'softer', not as crisp on a 4k TV but the Game and its Game-play loop is the same...

Whatever options you choose, its more about you, your preferences, your set-up etc - there is NO wrong choice. Even an XB1S maybe the 'best' choice for someone today even though its arguably the 'worst' choice in terms of specs. As long as it works for you, you get enjoyment from it and it ends up being a great investment for the amount of 'joy' you get, that's all that matters...

I have just spent £700 on a RoG Ally handheld gaming PC which may seem like a LOT for something that can't do 1080/120 (or even 60fps) in the latest games for example - but if it gets the use I expect, it could well end up a bargain...

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

Yea I get what you mean. Tomorrow I should be getting my One X, today I received RDR2 from Best Buy... I hope that CoD WW2 is also tomorrow or I'll ASK FOR A REFUND /jk.
Anyways thanks for the stats, I'll research Starfield a bit more (I had not heard of it till this forum) and I'll consider posting some updates on my experience or questions about my Xbox One.
Actually, one wonder: do I need to make a Microsoft account for my gamertag if I have a physical code for the Xbox Live Gold for the setup? I'll research this too.
Thank you o7

@RDDMarston You can sign in to your account - the same account you set-up on your 360. That will also keep all your 360 saves, your achievements etc and if you have ANY digital 360 games (inc those offered by Gold), these will appear in your Library as available to Download.

Then if you buy Digitally, all your games are on your Profile, linked to your Gamertag so if you do 'upgrade' to a Series Console, all those Digital games are instantly available to download and in some cases, you'll get the 'upgraded' version. For example, if you buy FH5 or Gears 5 digitally, you'll get the One X version to download on your One X, but if you upgrade to Series S or X, it will give you the option to install the Series version.

If you have an Account set up with Xbox - as I'm sure you must do with the 360, that is your GT and sign-in detaIls for Xbox - whether its a 360, a One or a Series console - Gold, Game Pass & Cloud etc are all 'linked' to your Xbox GT/Profile so you should 'keep' any Xbox Profile/GT you set-up on your 360 - Unless you want/need to start over, lose whatever progress (saves) in those 360 games you played...

Well that's cool! Too bad I don't remember what I inserted for Xbox 360 lol.

UPDATE:
Today I received the One X and CoD WW2, the second game I chose. The console itself is not cosmetically superb, imo falls a bit less than what the company's standards for "excellent" are. Still is pretty decent. The controller also has some cosmetic damage and when not in use, if the analog stick is pushed up, it will stay that way until moving it. That's for the left analog. However, since it does not stick when in use, I don't see this as something terrible. Still not superb for a refurbished console.
I still have not gotten into gameplay, but expect me to post another update about my experience or if I have any questions.

@RDDMarston If you can remember your email you used for your Account, you can try and 'recover' your account online.

As for your 'One X'. I don't know where you bought it, but like I said, its been out of 'production' for 3yrs now so the Only ones you'll find are 'used'. Depends on where you buy, but 'Refurbished' can be anything from Used gear that has been 'checked' to see if its operational - to being a repaired unit that was returned by a customer. Refurbished doesn't mean Cosmetically 'perfect', like 'new' either and unless the 'case' is cracked and/or potentially dangerous, it won't get replaced just because its not cosmetically great...

If you are NOT happy, return it and get a replacement or your Money back. Controllers are not 'great' in terms of 'long term' quality, but I think that's also by design, to make 'money' on Accessories etc. Think how much a 'new' controller costs and there is one inside every Box with the Console. That $300 Series S with a brand new Controller, HDMI cable etc. you can pay over $100 just for an 1TB SSD, let alone the rest of the components inside. So you get a 'Console' with accessories worth more than you pay because they have to sell at a 'loss' and get their 'money' back by selling Accessories, Software (games - especially Digitally through their Store), Subscription Services (Gold/PS+, Game Pass etc) to 'keep' you spending time and MONEY in their ecosystem to offset Console 'losses' and be profitable...

Its up to you again, can you 'live' with the Cosmetically compromised unit - considering the Price and/or joy it can still bring? Controllers are pretty 'cheap' and its always good to have a back-up regardless so you could buy a 'new' controller and use that - it doesn't have to be a 'One' controller as the Series & One share the same controller.

My One X is the Project Scorpio 'Day 1' Launch edition but I have kept it looking 'perfect' - LOL

@BAMozzy Ok... what a dissapointment. I spent around TWO HOURS trying to syncing the controller to the console... I tried basically everything and nothing worked... the controller transmits the infrared, but it doesn't sync... even if I plugged it via USB it just connected for 15 secs and then just turned off. What I figured after some research is that either it is a controller error (which is visibly used as I described) or a console error with the IR sensor. Still, I find myself to be very annoyed with the product. Most likely was not actually "refurbished," more like "pre-owned" and not checked. Bought through Walmart, seller is Itembazaar. Not trustworthy at all.
So the product will be returned, and the games as well. I took a decision to go for a Series S. I think that this kinda is a blessing in disguise because I feel that the most trustworthy thing to do is buy a new product, and of course this means next-gen. If I encounter any problems, I'll just deal with it. I won't be the only one lol. Either way, on disc level, I don't have much to lose. Basically I'd only have three 360 and OG Xbox games I'd be actively be playing, and I have Master Chief Collection anyways. RDR1 can be repurchased if I want to play it, although I may not do it anyways.
So after so much defense of the Xbox One X, I'll end up getting a Series S. Ironic and a blessing in disguise XD
Yes, consoles should be kept in the utmost pristine condition as possible!
Thanks,

@RDDMarston Its perhaps a pity you can't stretch to the Series X and get the 'One X' Backwards Compatibility versions of games like RDR2 which will look/run so much better and give you the Disk Drive to shop around for games from the past 20+ yrs of Xbox (although the OG and 360 games are very 'limited' on XB1/Series hardware - not ALL are BC)

The Series S will mean you'll be 'locked' to Digital purchases but they do have Sales and Game Pass too is great - especially with Quick Resume as Digital games don't need the Disc being swapped which defeats the purpose somewhat of Quick Resume...

Anyway, I hope you are happier with your choice and it brings you 'more' joy. At least 'newer' games will be accessible to you if any take your fancy...

@RDDMarston sorry to hear this, but if it helps, Im pretty sure that Red Dead 2 is around £18 on sale on the Xbox store at the moment. So hopefully you will get to enjoy this on Series S asap . I would say dont buy the game full price, as its on offer multiple times a year.

@BAMozzy Hey y'all, thanks for the updates. I had Wi-Fi problems on my recent trip, so I couldn't read this till now. So, I got my Series S this Wednesday, and today I schedule on using it. I got the Hunter Glider edition with Fortnite+Fall Guys+ Rocket League. Only into Fall Guys from these two, but it is still a good bargain lol.
I will update for any comments about the system.
Yes, Quick Resume is something I personally find to be interesting!

@BowsersBuddy Hey, thanks for the response. I had Wi-Fi problems on my recent trip, so I couldn't read this till now. I'll test out my Series S today, and I plan on looking out for the prices. RDR2 at $22 is definitely something to look forward to. If the price is not such on the US Store, at least I'll wait for the July 4th weekend (tomorrow basically) to see if there are price reductions.
I'm thinking if it is more prudent to buy gift cards, or do it directly through the system..

@RDDMarston Well I hope you have many many hours of enjoyment from your new Series S.

Digital and Quick Resume are perfect together. You can essentially 'pause' one game to play another and then 'resume' playing at a later point. With Physical, you'll still need to swap discs to make Quick Resume 'work' so takes away from that feature.

Anyway, have fun, RDR2 was on sale recently in the store and there are plenty of great and 'cheap' ways to enjoy your hardware - Game Pass Ultimate, whilst it is going up in price offers Gold (essential for 'online' gaming and 'required' for RDR online), Game Pass for Console, PC & Cloud, EA Access and a few perks etc but will give you access to 100's of games inc some New Releases every month. That also gives you 'extra' Discounts on Games - Discounts for Gold and/or Discounts for Game Pass to save more money on Purchases in the Store. Join MS Rewards too, and you'll get 'points' for Purchases which can be redeemed for Gift Cards to buy more Games if you want. There are ways to make gaming 'even' cheaper if you want...

@RDDMarston Just a bit of advice becareful with older CoD games like WWII. If you are playing the campaign that's fine but playing the multiplayer is not safe. For one thing it's full of hackers and it puts things like your personal info and even your IP address at risk.

@RDDMarston awesome, well I hope you enjoy it! Will be great to hear your thoughts on the game. I played it on PS4 and thought it was incredible. I also have it now on Series S, and hop back on the game every now and then to explore etc!

@BAMozzy Hey, thanks for recommending the MS rewards thing. As you say, it ain't too big (I mean basically 2 months or so for a TEN dollar gift card) but it beats paying real money and after all its just short tasks.
I've been waiting for RDR2 to go down in price, but nothing yet...
I have been playing Halo Infinite Multiplayer since I could get my Live Gold working. Apparently the store had not activated the code when I purchased it online, but it could get resolved at a store and now it is working. The multiplayer is superb, even though I am not very good at playing it lol
I am seeing that Fall Guys is taking WAY too long to load... I didn't know it went THAT unpopular..
I also played Fishing Planet and Asphalt Legends 9, both cool games. Still doesn't beat Halo lol
Thanks for the update. I'm really happy with this console!
