Topic: help: remote play no longer an option

Hi peoples, I'm on vacation and was filling my down time with xbox remote play. But today when I got back to my room the option was no longer available. My best guess is there might have been a power outage at my home that knocked my xbox from sleep mode to full shut down. Is that possible? Could there be another reason? And is there anything I can do about it but wait till I fly back home?

@iranoutanames Well if you have a housesitter you can ask them to check your Xbox.

Afraid not, I guess if that's the best that can be done there's. Wish this didn't happen on day 2 of a 5 day trip. Thanks for the help

Ok some news, came home no signs of an outage so did some digging. Remote play was suddenly changed, it no longer runs through the app. It now runs through the website xbox.com/remoteplay . I recommend doing it through Google Chrome(they also recommend Microsoft edge but i won't lol). Another trick I've learned go to the browser settings whileon the site and click add to homesreen, then click the install button to get an app version of the page on your phone as this will prevent your phone from going to sleep from inactivity.(mine sleeps after15 sec) I hope this helps someone. And to avoid any confusion even tho the option is add to home choosing the install option puts it in your app list, where you can add it to home like any other app if you do wish
