Banjo-

@Markibz I'll check that out because I have always been interested in the best possible settings but not enough to pay hundreds for a professional calibration. 👍🏻😊

@Banjo- I tried DV for gaming last night. It seemed really dark. I turned up the settings in the games but it still looked weird. Only tried it on Forza horizon 4 though.

It's a shame it's not easy to flick between HDR and DV in game. I'd probably choose on the fly if I had the option.

As it stands, I'm Gona try out both HDR and DV on a few different titles and then stick with one option for all. I think making a spreadsheet detailing which games look better in which mode, referring to that spreadsheet and then changing the mode in the settings before playing each game may suck the fun out of playing Xbox

@Markibz I will let you know how it works for me once I do it, I will definitely try that 👍.

@ralphdibny LED/QLED can get too bright and ruin contrast and HDR but OLED isn't that bright because the pixels are not backlit so what I do in the in-game menus is set the maximum HDR brightness to the upper limit (or almost). Try that.

@Banjo- weird, the HDR setting is super bright/vivid. First thing I noticed when I got this TV! I've gotten used to that now before DV dimmed things down for me again.

I'll certainly play around with the settings but I will have to settle on a one size fits all solution ultimately just for convenience. It already winds me up changing the audio and that has only got 5 options on the TV lol.

Definitely wanna get the best out of my set up but I only want to do it once and leave it like that so I will have a play around when I get some more free time! Would be good to know some benchmark titles to try it on. I guess I'll try Horizon 4, Horizon 5, Halo Infinite and some other random third party titles. Maybe GotG and something else

@ralphdibny Yes, HDR is bright and vivid on OLED. It's actually the perfect HDR because it also goes all the way down until the perfect black unlike LED/QLED. What I said is that OLED is never too bright on OLED because of the technology. On a LED/QLED panel if you set the HDR brightness too high, all the details in the shadows are lost. The HDR then becomes a shining gimmick that isn't working as intended because the high dynamic range is lost along the way.

In regard to convenience, I only set the maximum HDR brightness in the in-game menu once per title. It's usually set near the upper limit. Regular brightness is usually left at default (50/100). Once I try the tips given by Markibz I'll share my findings.

@ralphdibny make sure all the AI settings are off, even if there off in tv mode when you change to game mode there still on....DV has allso an extra one you have to turn off , its for the oled brightness depending of the ambient light..........and a tip for the HDR settings in the Series X, the first square ( step ) has to be tottally black, you dont have to see the chessboard pattern at all , the value has to be zero...........my english is terrible 😅😅😅😅😅
