Topic: Terminator Genisys: He's BAHCK!!!

So I will admit I am a huge fan of the Terminator franchise, In fact I have all four movies and both seasons of the tv series in my DVD collection, lol.  So you can imagine how excited I was to hear about a new movie coming out.

So after seeing the first trailer I don't know what to think honestly. It looks better then T3 and Terminator Salvation but it looks like all they did was borrow ideas from T2 and the original Terminator and mashed them together. I have heard that this is suppose to be a reboot of the series and from that trailer it looks like they are going with an alternative timeline. Still I am sure it will get my money at some point since I am a huge Terminator fan. Anyone else have mixed feelings on this one?

SOLD! Loved Terminator (one of my all time favourite films) the rest were okay but not a patch on the original.  Definitely going to watch this to see just how many famous quotes they can pack in.

@Tasuki I believe you're correct in that it's more a new Star Trek style "reboot" than a Salvation one. Please let Leonard Nemoy be in it.

I thought the trailer looked pretty bad.

@HEADESTROYER4:  Yeah Salvation was suppose to be the start of a new Terminator series but the Terminator rights went through some hand changes so that series died out.  The new owner of the Terminator IP (I don't remember who it is at the moment) said that they wanted to reboot the series in an attempt to put the series back on track.

@Tasuki That sounds and looks like what they're doing, I personally didn't like the new Star Trek's shameless rewrite of Wrath Of Khan, that just negged me. I think this one won't exclude Term 1+2 but instead work around them. The Terminator plot has always worked on a singular time-line where changes in the past effect the future, so there's lots of room to expand instead of reboot entirely. I hope it fits in with Cannon.

Watched it this morning. Not sure to be honest, think I'll wait for reviews and may see it at the cinema otherwise it's dvd for me.

I thought I sort of understood the concept here with a BTTF style alternative timeline rejig of the original. But even so, why is Robert Partick now Korean?

Plus, the concensus was it was rubbish and undeserving of a new trilogy.

I'm sorry  - I'm a massive Terminator fan and a huuuuuuge Arnie fan... but that trailer looked utter sh*te. Looked like they just tried to cram in as many references and lines from the other movies as possible. I've never heard "come with me if you want to live" delivered in a less convincing, cringe-worthy and contrived manner before. Even Arnie's obligatory "I'll be back" did nothing for me.

Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor putting on a fake American Accent for the movie - why??? That will annoy me throughout the entire film. Ditto if Matt Smith does the same...

To be honest, none of the cast looked a good fit for their roles to me - I don't think Arnie's presence in this one is going to save it. I hope I'm proved wrong but everything is pointing to this being as crap as Salvation.
