Circle May 21st on your calendar.

As we revealed a few weeks ago, Microsoft will indeed be holding a pre-E3 event to formally unveil the next generation of Xbox hardware on May 21st.

The event has been announced via Facebook, and will take place at 10am PDT, which converts to 6pm in the UK, and 7pm in Central European Time. The event will take place at the Microsoft campus in Redmond, and will be streamed worldwide on, Xbox LIVE, and via Spike TV if you're in the US or Canada.

Microsoft have stated that on the 21st, they'll "share (our) vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future." E3 kicks off 19 days later, and Microsoft will "continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games."

So, we're expecting to see the new console, find out what the final name is, and probably see a few features of the next-generation machine's dashboard. We're aiming bring you a live stream of the show, along with a live blog, so if you're stuck at work or unable to watch the video for whatever reason, you'll still be up to speed. And of course, we'll report all of the announcements in the regular way, as and when they happen.
