Very nice! The cloud is also getting better, I was playing Gears a little bit on Cloud and it felt like native smartphone game… I even got the perfect reload 5 times directly while playing on Cloud, no latency at all!
DAU and MAU are so important! I am happy Xbox and Microsoft realized that… it’s way better to sell only 2M of hardwares but having 500M MAU, than selling 100M of hardwares but having 5M MAU…
Hardware numbers mean nothing… Otherwise a lot of companies would start selling expensive cars when looking at the numbers of cars being sold in the world, as an example…
I completely agree with Mr Yoshida! It’s better to have games that you cannot buy in highest PS+ tier, and also some free games every month that you keep forever. That is the way to go to save the industry!
…well, I think he just wanted to say Game Pass is healthy, and PS+ is killing the industry.
It’s not that hard to understand why they would do that, Steam on Xbox would bring most of the games to Xbox, even the companies skipping Xbox like Japanese companies and even PlayStation games on Xbox.
Of course if Steam players buy this new Xbox console, they will keep buying games on Steam, but this is also true for Xbox players they will certainly continue to buy their games on Xbox store.
However if you have Steam players on a new Xbox, what can you do? You can control the OS, you can show things you cannot do on a PC… like someone trying to buy the new DOOM on Steam and suddenly you see a pop up saying this games is “free” if you take the Xbox game pass… Now I think you can understand why they want Steam on Xbox.
@themightyant I am not sure I can find one more time the documents which talked about that, with consoles strict sales (because now with PC sales + remaster + remake sales the numbers are getting highers). But overall PlayStation has a lot of revenue coming from the sales on their PS store and the 3rd party companies, money which go then into PlayStation AAA games to keep their solo adventure game image, which is completely fine for me.
Who knows Xbox is trying for next gen. If they are really trying to transform the next Xbox into a PC with Steam on it, Xbox players would be able to play PS games on their « Xbox », through Steam. Maybe it would calm down some people? Or maybe it would even break PS6 sales? Everything will come down to the Xbox hardware in my opinion… they can keep living, they can die alone, or they can die and bring PlayStation with them by bringing Steam on TV.
Even PlayStation is in the red with all their 1st parties games because they do not sell enough. They need to sell their games on PC, to do remaster, to do remake, to remake the remaster… and still not viable for PlayStation yet. So imagine if Xbox was keeping their games for them, they would be dead in less than 5 years. Big AAA games do not sell enough nowadays, except for GTA and only some Nintendo games, not even all of them.
So now the world of gaming is dividing in two:
Xbox, we do not make enough money on Xbox so let us sell our games everywhere so we can make enough money to keep pour franchises strong and we do not do remake of our games every 5 years.
PlayStation, we do not make enough money on PS so let us remaster our games so you can buy them again. Let us remake them because remaster is not enough. Let us sell our games on PC also because remaster and remake are not enough.
This is the truth about our gaming world right now ↑
This is related to the story where Steam is going to release a hardware for TV, a console.. but rumors tell it is not Steam but Xbox who would release a Steam console, which would be an Xbox console at the same time.
So Xbox would be Steam+Xbox... which means all exclusive games from Sony would be also on Xbox. Having no exclusive games in the future make sense when we have the full story. PlayStation and Xbox would have the same "exclusive games".
@OldGamer999 If Microsoft were the only company with this problem, I would be happy. Nowadays all big companies have the same problem, the lack of knowledge from employees is ridiculous... to the point where customers have more knowledge than the employees, sadly...
I am wondering if Microsoft is trying to steal players from PS5 by doing this… because if they are releasing Xbox best games on PS little by little, and those titles are the most played on PS, this would make Xbox the number 1 game maker on PS. Now if those players see Xbox is not only a game maker company but also a console maker, and they also see those games they have been playing a hundred hours, are « free » on Xbox with a subscription. They might quit PS ecosystem in the future and stay with Xbox. Of course, all Xbox games on PS need to be AAAA level with this strategy, but it could work…
