Re: The 'Father Of Xbox' Is Uncertain About The Future Of Games Consoles

HeroYoshiko

I tried streaming StarWars Squadrons to my tablet (wifi AC 5Ghz) just from my Xbox (1GB Ethernet to modem) and the lag made ship battles next to impossible. I haven’t even bothered with Cloud gaming.

I’ll stick to consoles thx. There doesn’t need “to be a way forward” if the thing you have works brilliantly. This always smells a bit like MS wanting to admit defeat with Xbox and go to a paid streaming service, and not for any actual benefit for gamers.

I don’t know why Press Start keep saying this, it’s been in stock at major electronics retailer (JBHIFI) for months. I wondered in months ago and picked one up. Just checked their web site, they still have stock everywhere. This is about the 3rd time Press Start released headlines like this, it’s very strange. And the S has been available for even long are more retailers.

@Kaloudz That whole period has been played to death and isn't much interesting in the mythology of the time. Dirty peasants with no teeth living in huts made of cow poop, mud and straw. Some rich lords and some snooty better than thou knights getting rowdy in the pub and trying to make out with any women in sight. Yeah Robbin hood, but, it's pretty played out. Like Zombies and spaghetti westerns.

@Geezer I heard that it basically didn't sell on Xbox and lost money, and they only made a profit from the sales on Playstation, so it makes sense to spend the time, effort and money supporting where the user base actually is. They never promised an expansion and next gen update for xbox. You got the product they sold, you didn't lose anything, and they aren't a charity.

@Bleachedsmiles Hi! Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your nice reply. But have to disagree sorry. Batteries are expensive and bad for the environment, they only did it to support Duracell. The chances of needing to replace an inbuilt battery is pretty much zero. I have decade old devices with built in batteries that are still OK, even original PS4 controllers. I really don’t feel like the decision had the consumer in mind. I feel like defending the decision, on a $750AUD console isn’t right. The interface is a mess, that looks like it was from Windows 8.0. I have to count how many games are in my pinned games, go into a deep menu screen, and subtract the number from the list, know I’m missing eg 2 games, then try to figure out which game is missing, go back to the games group if I can’t find it, try to memorise the games list then go back… what is going on. Uninstalling a game, Xbox button, cancel the profile screen, tab to the left 5 times, clicked All Games and App, then you can to the uninstall screen. Same goes for the Xbox mobile app. PS I can buy and download games, check new releases and add them to the wish list to be notified when they’re on sale. Xbox app, I can’t even find the store front?

I have a PS5 and Xbox X. I bought the X to play Starfield (cheaper than buying a gaming PC) I have to say the controller design that uses batteries is just insane. And I miss the feedback of the PS5 controller in games. The Xbox interface is an ugly mess. So many menus I have to dig through. And the whole pinning and unpinning to groups is weird. It took me ages to workout how to uninstall a game. Honestly if it wasn’t for Starfield I wouldn’t have bought one. I stopped playing Halo 5 and Gears 5 about half way in as I got bored. Halo infinite was fun at the start but became a grind. I’m trying to force myself to finish the story now that I’ve maxed out my shields and grapple hook. The most fun I’m having so far is playing The Gunk. Not sure on the praise of the Xbox design, it’s just a black rectangle, what design? It’s a black Apple Cube And regards to performance, the few Xbox owners at work wished they got a PS5 because Elden Ring runs better on the PS5. If Xbox isn’t performing on the games that count, then it doesn’t count.

Hopefully Stalker 2 comes out this year, hold me over to Starfield. Honestly pretty disappointing, it’s a Xbox One with more power. The controller is disappointingly the same and the interface is still out of date and there’s yet any must own games. Once the Switch 2 comes out and the PS5 VR it’s going to be an uphill battle.

Re: Team Xbox Is 'Very Aware' Of The Store's Dodgy Search Function

HeroYoshiko

It’s not just the search, the whole interface is confusing AF. I just picked up a Xbox X and holy hell is it all confusing. PS is logical and simple. Took me a day just to work out how to see hard drive space and uninstall a game. And what’s with this Groups thing? I have to manually add each game I’ve download to a group? WTF. It’s all so messy and the interface is ugly.
