There is no reason to have the dongle plugged into the xbox and have it "sticking out like a sore thumb"
You keep it in the charging dock and wire the dock into the usb port and it connects wireless that way.
I have this controller and thats exactly how I use it.
In case anyone doesnt know you can do the same thing with the switch version and pc version (on those respective platforms) you never need to plug the dingles directly into the devices

@Damo I just discovered a nice feature (imo anyway)
If you have it docked while wired into the console when you take it off the dock it will wake the console

@The_Nintendo_Pedant I paid £65 for mine off aliexpress.
BTW its a better feeling controller than the ultimate 2.
Its got a tiny bit more weight , the l1 and r1 have a nice click too them.

@The_Nintendo_Pedant thats just a quirk of windows and steam os.
Because the device uses xinput it identifies it as an xbox controller.
My uc2 identifies as xbox controller
My gamesir tarantula does the same and if I switch it to mode 2 it identifies it as a switch pro controller
