I bought a GameSir X2 Pro this week and wish I'd waited for this or the Backbone for Android. It's a great controller but I didn't realise it no wired audio capability when I ordered it. I bought some low latency Bluetooth earbuds which make up for that but a 3.5mm jack or USB C audio capable should be standard on these controller shells in my opinion. Good on Gamevice doing just that.
@Blessed_Koz I think I let my cynical side out because the expansion cards will likely always be a licensed accessory and that combined with their almost proprietary nature will probably mean inflated prices even when opened up to other manufacturers. I really hope I'm wrong though. I fall into the camp who want support for a DIY PS5 style solution. An NVMe to expansion card slot adaptor from someone like Seagate or Sabrent would be cool. I don't see it happening due to the lack of ease and MS having to open the firmware up to wild west that is SSDs.
I was very tempted by the 512GB when an Amazon notification popped up on my phone this morning. But I'll stick with my 1TB USB SSD + 5TB USB HDD combo and move games as I need them. It goes against my otherwise impatient nature but the price per GB is easier to swallow and I can repurpose both devices as general purpose storage when expansion cards get cheaper. These deals do make me wonder if Seagate's exclusivity deal is due to expire soon given it's been almost 2 years since launch. More manufacturers producing expansion cards might help push the prices down although I doubt it.
I'm loving this game so far, I was going hooked after the demo earlier this year. Their previous game Splasher is brilliant too. I think the developer Splashteam is led by people who worked on Rayman Origins and Legends which shines through in how much fun their games are.
Tinykin is a perfect game pass game, I hope lots of people get to play it.
I played and loved this on Switch a few months back. I'm looking forward to 2nd playthrough on Xbox with higher resolution, image quality and frame rate.
Not yet but I did buy Avengers on sale, played the campaign, was disappointed by the campaign and then 3 months it came to game pass. So I could have been disappointed but £26 better off haha. Well £15 as it took me a month to play it.
The CPU in the Series S is very powerful and not far removed from the Series X. The other components are significantly downgraded in relation. I'm not a game developer so I don't which ones hold back the S for definite. I suspect it's the GPU (4tflops vs 12 tflops on X)and reduced memory bandwidth & capacity. That being said I love mine to bits and I'm hopeful that it'll more than enough for most games for the next 3 years at least. I can see an upgrade in my future though.
@FraserG Thank you for highlighting these great deals as always. Would it be possible to change the links to be region agnostic? All the URLs are en-US and I have to change or remove the locale to view UK prices on the game product pages. I appreciate this might be one for your web developers, I only mention it because I'm a dev and region agnostic links save so much time for our customers and localisation team alike. Hopefully it doesn't break any affiliate functionality as I'd hate to cheat you guys out of revenue for the site which is brilliant.
Like many people, I wish the expansion cards were cheaper. If the 512GB card was around £75 I'd have bought one already and then lamented not springing for the 1TB 😂
I tend to play 1 single player campaign game with a 1or 2 side games. I thought the Series S' internal SSD would be enough for that with a 5TB external HDD for cold storage. But seeing shiny things on game pass and a tendency to revisit old games means I run out of storage pretty easily. Transferring games is fine if you're moving a 20+ hour single player game from your backlog to play for a week or 2. But it's a pain when you want to play Forza Horizon 4 for an hour.
I have an external SSD that I put together using an NVMe one from an aging gaming PC I no longer use. I use it for Xbox One games and transferring the odd optimised title. It's 512GB and pretty quick too with a 100GB game transferring in around 5 minutes. I'm toying with buying a 1TB one (around £100) instead of an expansion card. However an expansion card would be more convenient but unless the 1TB one drops below £150 it's a no for now.
@JetmanUK We're having work done on the house upstairs so my desk is next to the TV at the moment. I'm working on a project that needs a Windows laptop so my usual Mac was resting on my desk. I needed to grab it to do a quickly job so I pick it up, the charging lead gets snagged and muggins here yanks it like a tool. In doing that I smacked the TV on the edge with the MacBook leaving a 1cm crack. It's a bezel less screen so I'd managed hit the electronics around the outside sharply with a solid piece of aluminium and killed 40% of the image in the process. I can laugh about it now but I was raging at the time. Luckily Amazon are replacing it but they're dragging their heels on a delivery date.
FFS I bought this on sale in July ahead of the War for Wakanda (forever) DLC. It wasn't really worth the money but I did want to play it being a Marvel fan. The disappointment would have been less if I hadn't had paid for it. Oh well that's game pass life I guess 🤣
I'd be really excited to try this out after work but I broke my Dolby Vision capable TV 2 weeks ago after accidentally hitting it with a MacBook 🤦♂️. So I'll be playing in SDR until its replacement arrives.
I'm a big superhero fan to the point that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine announcements has made me rethink my plan to upgrade from a Series S to an X or 2023 equivalent in favour of a PS5. I've only recently got an Xbox having had a PS4 with the first Spider-Man being a favourite of mine. So personally I'd love to see Microsoft adapt a superhero/comic book franchise. The Boys would be an interesting one to adapt as it's more adult orientated although I have no idea how to make a game out of it. But to be honest if Xbox Games Studios keep producing games like Psychonauts 2 I won't be jumping ship anytime soon.
I was really pleased to read that the app had updated to support cloud and remote play and then realised it was for insiders. Hopefully the wider rollout is not far now, having remote play on my laptop would be great.
I don't really rate Planet Alpha as I found it to be all style, no substance when I played on Switch but each to their own. I'm really excited for Conker as I've wanted to play it for 20 years.

Toys for Bob would be a great fit for a new Banjo game.

Tinykin is fantastic, I might give it a second playthrough before its inevitable departure from Game Pass.
