Yesterday, we highlighted many of the initial reviews for the ROG Xbox Ally X20 which indicated that it was a very impressive albeit expensive device, which pretty much lines up with what we expected.

Another person who's made their thoughts known about the Xbox Ally X20 is Shuhei Yoshida, who you may remember as being the former President of SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment) Worldwide Studios for PlayStation.

In his post on social media yesterday, Yoshida hailed the ROG Xbox Ally X20 as being his "new favorite portable gaming PC" on the market, specifically shouting out its "larger, beautiful OLED display".

When Yoshida talks, he's usually pretty much on the money. A lot of people were sceptical when he predicted that Blue Prince would become a Game of the Year contender ahead of its launch in 2025, but that's exactly what ended up happening, with the game racking up multiple awards in both 2025 and 2026.

Of course, there's no desperate need to fork out over $1,000 for the ROG Xbox Ally X20 when the older ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are on the market as well, especially considering how there's no performance difference between the Ally X and X20 - you're just getting a nicer display along with various other quality-of-life improvements.

You can check out our one-year review of the older ROG Xbox Ally X elsewhere on Pure Xbox if you're interested (we'll link to it below). Maybe it'll help decide whether you want to fork out the cash for the new version or not!
