We've got another massive Xbox release coming our way on October 6th in the form of Star Wars: Galactic Racer, which is the first ever title from UK studio Fuse Games, and one that's getting some phemomenal review scores!

This is a game that had been looking really impressive throughout its preview period, but the reviews may well have surpassed expectations, with most outlets scoring it anywhere from 8/10 to 10/10 as things stand.

Let's take a look at some of those reviews:

VGC (5/5)

"The thrilling throwback to arcade racing’s glory days wows with visual might and a great single-player offering."

Giant Bomb (10/10)

"Star Wars: Galactic Racer is everything I hoped it would be. Fuse built a campaign that keeps giving me reasons to master the tracks, then made the racing feel good enough that I wanted to."

Push Square (9/10)

"Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a thoughtfully designed triumph. The excellent handling and eye-popping presentation would be enough to recommend the game alone, but I also love its buildcrafting aspects and roguelite campaign."

GameSpot (9/10)

"Galactic Racer is those absolutely perfect 10 minutes expanded into a full game. Every moment feels joyfully fast. Every decision carries the weight of tension. And every run is a rewarding chance to learn, improve, tinker, and adapt, whether it ends in success or failure. I can’t wait to keep playing what’s been my favorite racing game in years."

Game Informer (8.5/10)

"Galactic Racer is a Star Wars game, and that might be enough for some, but not for me. Fortunately, it’s an even better racing game, one filled to the brim with courses, vehicle builds, and characters that keep me coming back to the track for one more race."

IGN (8/10)

"Star Wars: Galactic Racer is a fabulous looking and frantically fast anti-grav racer that gets a little repetitive thanks to its heavy reliance on repeatedly revisiting the same slim selection of planets, but has successfully lit the afterburners on a long-dormant slice of the Star Wars universe."

GamesRadar (4/5)

"Star Wars: Galactic Racer brings the carnage-filled arcade racing of the 2000s into the modern day, with slick and exhilarating high-speed racing that mixes perfectly with a run-based format and roguelike elements. It's not perfect, stalling a little at the end of the campaign, and I'd like to see more planets and tracks for a truly galactic feel. But with a galaxy far, far away providing narrative hooks and a fun cast, Galactic Racer has some serious sauce and might be a blueprint for others to follow."

All of this is resulting in an initial Metacritic average of 88 for Star Wars: Galactic Racer, which makes it one of the top 25 games of 2026 according to that platform. An extremely strong start without a doubt!

I've personally been playing the game for Pure Xbox as well, and you'll get to see some initial impressions on Sunday. Long story short, I concur with how amazing this game is, and reckon it's well worth a pickup on Tuesday next week.
