There's obviously been a lot of talk over the past few years, and particularly in the past few months, about how AI is making huge waves within the gaming industry and changing how we think about both playing and developing games.
Just a few days ago, Asha Sharma unveiled something called Xbox Labs that appears to be an experimental AI division to help conjure up new ideas for the future, but her accompanying statement didn't mention AI specifically.
Now, a Senior Business Strategy Manager at Microsoft has unexpectedly shared some thoughts on the topic of AI, Xbox and the wider gaming industry, claiming that it's "time to accept" that gaming is using AI in 2026.
He even advised that he could be fired for his comments, although we certainly hope that doesn't happen!
Here are some examples of what he had to say:
Before all of this, the Microsoft employee pointed out that he'd vibe-coded a "bad but improvable" game in just three hours, and that he believes anyone can now build a game. He then pondered how much better it could be if he had "two people helping me over the course of a year".
You get the point, anyway - Brandon wants to raise awareness that AI is being used inside of the gaming industry, but (at least in his opinion) many people are avoiding talking about it because "users have negative sentiment".
So, what do you think? Do you agree with what's being said here? Let us know down in the comments.
