One of the games that we didn't even talk about following last Tuesday's PlayStation State of Play event was Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, as no platforms were revealed for it, and the original game was a launch exclusive for PS5.
It sounds like things are going to be different this time around though, as developer Shift Up has announced it will be self-publishing Blood Rain, whereas Sony Interactive Entertainment published the original.
And, in an interview with IGN, the studio's CEO heavily hinted at a potential Xbox version on day one:
"Actually in terms of platforms, nothing has been decided yet so there's not much we can reveal. We just want to reach out to as many fans as possible."
"We actually see the future of computers and the consoles with a lot of issues going on. It's becoming more and more expensive, and it's hard for it to become more improved or developed. So we definitely want to make sure that the game can be enjoyed for those who have the current PC and current consoles.”
But what about the original? Well, Shift Up already announced at the end of 2025 that it was considering expanding the OG Stellar Blade to additional platforms, but we haven't heard anything about an Xbox release just yet.
It certainly seems like this'll become a Final Fantasy-style situation though- we get the original game much later down the line, but then the next iteration launches day one on Xbox. Let's hope that's the case, anyway!
