It was just recently that Xbox officially confirmed Fable was being delayed to February 2027 in order to get the game away from GTA 6, but the game still made an appearance as part of today's Xbox Games Showcase.
January's Xbox Developer Direct confirmed to us that Fable had major potential — possibly Game of the Year Potential — and today's trailer didn't change our feelings on that! It feels like this one's going to sell by the bucketload.
The entire cast list has also been revealed today, which includes Hayley Atwell, Richard Ayoade and many others. You can find out more about each of them over on the Xbox Wire website.
"Fable just revealed a new story trailer during XBOX Games Showcase, showing off new gameplay, characters, a sense of the story beyond our Hero, and a lot of action, from facing down a Balverine to, well, putting a giant toad face-down (with a dose of magic). Oh, and quite a lot of swearing. Anchoring the entire thing was an ominous speech by Isabel, the game’s villain, played by Hayley Atwell (Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mission: Impossible). Of course, in time-honored Fable fashion, Atwell is far from the only famous name on the cast list."
Obviously it's a shame that we're not going to be playing it this year, but with the likes of Halo: Campaign Evolved and Gears of War: E-Day on the way very soon, there's not really anywhere to squeeze it in.
And anyway, this gives Playground Games more chance to polish their first-ever non-racing game! With both Fable and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis on the way in February next year, 2027 looks set to have an amazing start on Xbox.
