The Top Two Best-Selling Games On Steam Right Now Are Upcoming Xbox Game Pass Titles

You'd be forgiven for thinking that whenever a game launches into Xbox Game Pass on day one, it probably doesn't sell too well outside of the service - and while that certainly can happen, it's not always the case. Sometimes games are just so popular that they shift plenty of standalone units too, and that seems to be the situation for two upcoming May 2026 XGP releases.

SteamDB recently shared sales data for the week of May 5-12 (thanks, Windows Central), and it shows that Forza Horizon 6 and Subnautica 2 took up the top two spots on the list for best-selling games on the platform. Both titles are also set to launch on Xbox Game Pass in the coming days.

That trend seems to be continuing into this week as well. We've had a look at Steam's top sellers in the US and UK at the time of writing (May 13) - and yep, you guessed it, the top two spots for premium games are still Forza Horizon 6 and Subnautica 2. Valve says that these lists are curated "by revenue", which means that Subnautica 2 in particular is doing extremely well, given that it costs less than half of what FH6 does.

Clearly, then, folks still want to buy these games outright - especially on Steam, despite both of them launching day one on PC Game Pass too. We have a funny feeling that this pair of titles are going to do very well for themselves this May, and indeed throughout the rest of the year and beyond.
