New Marvel & Mega Man Collections Are Out Now On Xbox, And The Reviews Are Decent

We've got a couple of big releases on the Xbox Store today for fans of retro games! Both the Marvel MaXimum Collection and Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection have just released, and they're getting decent reviews so far.

Let's start with the Marvel MaXimum Collection, which doesn't yet have enough reviews to generate a Metacritic average, but nevertheless has received some good scores - 7/10 seemingly being the most common so far .

Here are a couple of example reviews:

Creative Bloq (3.5/5): "A relentlessly nostalgic, often rewarding showcase of '90s games, Marvel MaXimum Collection relies on its arcade classics and hidden gems to paper over the cracks made by its duo of Spider-Man & Venom releases."

The Mirror (3/5): "X-Men: The Arcade Game is absolutely the highlight and biggest get, no doubt, yet there’s also plenty of joy to be found poking through all the different platform versions of every other featured game. This, coupled with plenty of modern accessibility features, results in one retro Marvel collection worth assembling for."

Meanwhile, the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection does actually have a Metacritic rating of 76 for PC and 73 for PS5 (not enough reviews for Xbox yet), so again it's faring well without proving a massive hit with the critics.

Here are some example reviews for that game:

Push Square (7/10): "Although some parts haven’t aged as well, most noticeably regarding its gameplay, the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is worth checking out if you enjoyed Battle Network or are looking for a new RPG series to dive into."

GameSpew (7/10): "Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection bundles up a whole series of action-RPGs and adds some valuable extras and enhancements. But while existing fans and those who love the Battle Network series will likely lap it up, newcomers might find it all a little too dated."

Both are now live on the Xbox Store at a price of £20.99 / $24.99 for the Marvel MaXimum Collection and £32.99 / $39.99 for the Mega Man Collection, so if you fancy dipping into some retro games this weekend, here's your chance!
