Xbox FPS Highguard has been offline for almost a week now, and we have a few more developments regarding the ill-fated shooter cropping up online this week. The first of those surrounds refunds for the game's DLC, while another is a second unfortunate casualty that relates to the game's developer.
Let's talk about those refunds first. Appearing on both the Highguard and PS5 subreddits, it's looking like Sony is automatically refunding any DLC purchases relating to Highguard - of course, the game itself was free-to-play. We haven't seen any evidence of this on Xbox or PC yet, but here's hoping Microsoft and the likes of Valve step up and hand out similar refunds to users on their respective platforms.
Elsewhere, MP1st is reporting that Highguard's developer, Wildlight Entertainment, is seemingly closing its doors following the game's unfortunate demise. The site has discovered that Wildlight's LinkedIn page now just throws up an error message, while co-founder Chad Grenier has their work at the studio listed as ending this month - with an accompanying message also posted out to the networking platform:
"While this outcome isn’t the one we hoped for, I leave this experience with a tremendous number of lessons that will stay with me for the rest of my career. And despite everything, I’m incredibly proud of the team and what we built together."
We'll link to some of our other recent Highguard stories down below, including our coverage on the game's shutdown last week.
