Cities: Skylines Is Getting New Free Content On Xbox Game Pass, Console Sequel Still Delayed

The team behind the Cities: Skylines series has announced a bunch of new content for the first game which launched all the way back in 2015 — some free and some paid — as struggles continue with the sequel, including its console release.

We were supposed to get Cities: Skylines 2 on Xbox, including Game Pass, years ago - but for now, only the PC Game Pass version has dropped. The sequel recently switched developer after struggling with optimisation efforts, so they've gone back to the first game to provide some extra content.

Thankfully, both the Xbox One and Series X|S versions of Cities: Skylines remain on Xbox Game Pass, so the upcoming free patch that's "adding roadside fences and a new Employment Info View that allows for a closer look at a city’s workforce" will be available to all subscribers no extra cost.

This free content arrives on March 10th, alongside some new paid expansions for the first game in the series as well. Meanwhile, Cities: Skylines 2 for PC is getting a similar treatment on March 18th, with a new patch and some expansion packs coming to the sequel for Windows; obviously not console just yet.

You can take a look at the team's Cities: Skylines franchise roadmap down below, and we'll keep an eye out for any news on the sequel's console release whenever the developer gives us an update.
