At the weekend, Ubisoft announced that three Far Cry games were set for 60FPS updates on current-gen consoles this week - and now that the Blood Dragon trailer is here for us to feast our eyes on, we can't wait to replay this one at a smooth frame rate on Xbox Series X|S.

We've chucked this 60FPS update trailer up above for good measure, and while it doesn't show us much of the update itself, it has reminded us of the fond memories we have of Ubisoft's wacky Far Cry 3 spinoff. It's been five years since Blood Dragon's 'Classic Edition' release, and we've been patiently waiting for a 60FPS patch since ever since. We can finally flip off our foes at high frame rates, get in.

For Xbox players specifically, this is the one of the three we've been waiting for. The Xbox 360 version of Far Cry 3 has been 60FPS for a while now, as has Primal; the series' underrated prehistoric spinoff. Blood Dragon has gained somewhat of a cult status in the 10+ years since its original release, and it's deserved this kind of update for ages.

To be honest, it's probably worth more than a simple frame rate update, but we'll save our judgement on this new Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon upgrade until we've been hands-on with it. The upcoming patch — alongside equivalent updates for 3 and Primal — lands for Xbox on Wednesday, January 21st.
