Bethesda's Fallout Resurgence Is In Full Swing As FO4 Hits Almost 100K Daily Players On Xbox

At this point, it's safe to say that Amazon's Fallout TV show has been a massive success not only in itself but also for the franchise at large, and some new data from the Christmas period shows how big of an impact the show has had on older Fallout games for Microsoft and Bethesda.

Coming from GamesIndustry.biz (with data supplied by Alinea Analytics/Video Game Insights), the Fallout series saw "significant spikes" in sales and player numbers following the show's Season 2 premiere last month. On Xbox alone, Fallout 4 saw almost 100,000 daily players in early January, while online RPG Fallout 76 saw the biggest spike in December; when Season 2 of the show first aired.

It's not just Xbox where the TV show is having a massive impact on the series either. Data shows that the same pair of Fallout games doubled their daily active players on Steam post-Season 2 as well, with sales also picking up across Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms.

Summarising its findings, Alinea noted that Fallout Season 2 "acted as a massive catalyst for player engagement" particularly for Fallout 76, which hit an estimated peak player count of 235,000 across all platforms on December 30th. Whichever way you slice it, then, the Fallout game series is massively benefitting from how popular Amazon's new TV show is!
