Since Keeper released back in October we've not really heard much from its developer Double Fine, but to close out the year, the team is here this week with a brand-new update for the Xbox title.
Live now on Xbox, PC and Game Pass, Keeper's December update introduces Noir Mode for that black-and-white look, High Contrast Mode for increased accessibility and Ultrawide support; the latter presumably being a PC-only addition. Here's how Double Fine introduces its new Keeper features:
"Surprise! We’re starting December with a really cool KEEPER update, and it’s one we’re very excited to put into your hands. This update is all about color:
1. Noir Mode - A silly experiment by one of our artists ended up being so mind-blowing that the team knew it had to be made official. If you’ve enjoyed the black and white versions of movies like “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Parasite,” or “The Mist,” you’re really gonna love Noir Mode. Turns out, taking away all the color made it really cool and even more impressionistic!
2. Ultrawide Support - We know, we know, we said it couldn’t be done. But actually, it totally can be done! And it’s gorgeous! So dazzling, in fact, that you might burst into tears of awe when you behold it on your Ultrawide monitors. It happened to at least one of us during testing.
3. High Contrast Mode - For those who need specific colors (who might have low vision or photosensitivity needs), we’re adding some accessibility features to help you enjoy Keeper."
You can check out these new features in the update video at the top of this article, which goes into a little more detail on each new mode. Double Fine has also shared a closing message with this update, as the team hopes its fans enjoy exploring everything new that Keeper has to offer.
"We're really proud of this update, and we hope you spend some time exploring again in the unknowable places beyond both time and space. And tell us what you think of Noir Mode! We want to hear from you on our socials. Huge shout out to Lee and the entire Keeper team, who worked hard on making sure this update (and these cool new features) was extra fine-tuned to bring you something really special.
Happy wandering!"
