Excited for The Outer Worlds 2 from Xbox Game Studios developer Obsidian Entertainment? Well, we're less than three weeks out from launch - and the game has now gone gold, with pre-loading available on Xbox Game Pass as we speak.
We're looking at a current download size of just shy of 80GB here, so this will be quite a chunky install on your Xbox Series X|S console. Of course, we may get some additional patches between now and launch - but this is the game's storage footprint as things stand.
The Outer Worlds 2 is Obsidian's third major release this year after Avowed and Grounded 2, with the sci-fi RPG set to build on the foundations laid down by 2019's The Outer Worlds. It was set to become Microsoft's first $80 game before a speedy pricing U-turn, and it's of course available on Xbox's newly revamped Game Pass Ultimate service on day one.
The game arrives in and amongst a busy month for Xbox Game Studios and Microsoft first-party releases. It closely follows Ninja Gaiden 4 in going up for preload; we have a separate story on that down below alongside everything coming to Game Pass in October 2025.
