After months of promises and post-launch work from the Ivory Tower development team, an offline mode has finally been added to The Crew 2, ensuring that the game will be playable "for years to come" on Xbox consoles.
We first heard about this effort over a year ago following the drama surrounding The Crew's shutdown, with Ubisoft promising offline modes for both sequels in future. The first of those is officially here - described as a 'hybrid mode' by the Ubisoft developer:
"Thanks to player feedback, a new hybrid mode allowing both online and offline play is now available. This marks a major milestone in ensuring the game’s longevity, keeping it accessible for years to come."
This was all detailed as part of the team's The Crew Showcase 2025 video — which we've included up above — and it also goes over some massive updates coming to The Crew Motorfest during its third year of content support. New islands, a NASCAR crossover, a BMW-themed playlist and more are coming to the 2023 racer over the next year or so.
As for Motorfest's offline mode, that one isn't quite ready yet, but Ubisoft has assured us that its latest open-world racer will indeed be getting one at some stage. Here's hoping that arrives soon now that The Crew 2's offline mode is officially available - we really liked the third game and reckoned that it was a major step up for the series during our 2023 review.
