You've probably seen that Microsoft unveiled a bunch of new Xbox Game Pass titles earlier this week, and the one that seems to be getting most interest here at Pure Xbox (based on the stats we're seeing) is The Casting of Frank Stone.
No surprises there! On paper, this game sounds absolutely awesome for fans of story-driven games, horror games and the Dead by Daylight universe, being brought to us by Supermassive Games of Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures and The Quarry fame. However, the reviews haven't been that great for this one.
Over on Metacritic, The Casting of Frank Stone has an average of 68, while its Steam rating is "Mixed" at the time of writing. We gave it a "Good" 7/10 when we reviewed the game back in September of last year, praising its "engaging popcorn horror experience" but admitting that it falls short compared to the likes of Until Dawn and The Quarry.
"If you've played pretty much any Supermassive game in the past — from Until Dawn to The Quarry — you'll know what to expect from The Casting of Frank Stone. This Dead by Daylight tie-in doesn't quite match the lofty heights of those two games in particular, but it gets pretty close, delivering an engaging popcorn horror experience along the way. We'd have been well up for a few more hours in this universe, which certainly says something, but ultimately results in The Casting of Frank Stone sitting just below greatness."
