
Update #2 []: We're starting to see reports that the Xbox service is slowly returning to normal, and we can confirm that our full game libraries and the Microsoft Store are both now working on console here in the UK. This may be a slow build up though, with the Azure Status page still displaying the below update at the time of writing.
Update #1 []: Microsoft's Azure Status page has just updated to say that it expects full recovery to happen "within the next four hours" - or by 4:20pm PT / 7:20pm ET / 23:20pm GMT.
At the time of this update, we're still seeing issues on Xbox relating to the dashboard, our full game libraries and the Microsoft Store.
Original Story: We're seeing reports online that a huge Microsoft Azure server outage is causing issues across Xbox, Windows and other Microsoft services that are connected to the web.
As shared by The Verge, Microsoft has confirmed Azure Portal issues on the service's status page, while Microsoft 365 has addressed the outage on social media too, saying that it's "investigating reports of issues" right now. We'll share that status update down below:
As for Xbox services more specifically, the Xbox Support page isn't loading at all right now - and reports are coming in from several users that Xbox Live isn't working on console. On our end, we are getting a connection on Xbox Series X, but with limited access and dashboard errors.
It's worth keeping an eye on the Microsoft Azure Down Detector page to see how the situation evolves, and we'll provide an update if and when we know more.

@TheOldHunter4K End of November through the first few weeks of the new year are typically slow for new releases. Things usually start back up mid January. The game awards will give some more 2026 release dates for third party and Xbox first party games. But yeah, it's ALWAYS slow around the holidays
Didn't we just have one of the biggest outages across the board just last week with AWS? Hundreds of important apps and sites were down and people couldn't conduct business. I fear this is just the beginning for hacks and outages.
All the people who could fix it got laid off in the last round of layoffs……… or was it the one before that? Or the one before that? Or even the one before that?
It died around 3:50pm as Business Central went down at work with users unable to get past the login. Fortunately I finished at 4:00pm and am hoping its fixed by morning

The company's Azure cloud computing platform, which underpins large parts of the internet, reported a "degradation of some services, external" at 1600 GMT.
It said this was due to "DNS issues" - the same root cause of the huge Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage last week.

This is why I’ll never embrace cloud streaming. It’s fine as an additional option of course, but it can’t ever be acceptable to be the only way to access our games. The ability to play games offline is so incredibly important!

The store was buggy as hell last night(830pm or so uk time)not loading in correctly,store button not working,games not showing up in store.
I wonder if that is why xbox downloads are way slow for me right now. Tested steam and epic to compare and it was just xbox being sluggish.
Not noticing any other issues just download speeds.

I just tried going to xbox.com to check on something and it was refusing to load. Thought it was my ad blocker acting up but no, deleted the site cookies as well, nope, tried a different browser and accessing microsoft.com, still no go. Then I see how everyone else is complaining.
Microsoft just can't stop stacking L's lately it seems.
@Cakefish Yeah I hate the entire idea of being dependent upon streaming for gaming because in my experience internet services are simply not the sort of thing you can always depend upon.
We will get reimbursed the $1 gamepass ultimate we lost with this? I bet my wife is happy i wont be able to play Outer Worlds 2 tonight......
@JayJ yeah absolutely agree, plus also I really enjoy nerding out about console/PC specifications and all the things that come along with rendering games on local hardware (I’m a big fan of Digital Foundry). So everything moving to cloud streaming only would feel so incredibly sterile and boring to me. I definitely think much would be lost if that were ever to happen. So that’s another reason why I will never fully embrace the cloud!

The store is down (here in UK) but my daughter is playing Pacific Drive and it's working fine.
Hopefully it'll get resolved soon. A few days ago in was AWS which had issues. All of this technology and it's interdependence on a number factors is bound to have problems from time to time.
Store and downloads not working for me but games are playable. Achievements also seem to be locked though.
Just got off after gaming for the past 4-5hrs with no issues. I was playing Online and checked the store for deals before I shut down for the evening - either I timed it well or just lucky it seems...

Iv had no issues connecting to the web and playing games, but store features haven't been working at all for me.

Fully signed in, downloaded a game, playing the game GPU. Great internet speed etc.

So I can't make new purchases... Cool I get more time to think about it. All else, presence, achievements, cloud saves in one test I did all seem to be working. All the gamepass digs, it's easy.. Speak louder with your wallet if you don't like it. Stop spamming comments and reviews.

@Kezelpaso I just checked the store and I can view and install games. Haven’t tried to purchase anything yet though. Installed Halls of Torment off Gamepass to check.
I seem to be back to normal now. Store has loaded, GamePass is loaded in now.

@OldGamer999 @Kezelpaso So cloud is not working in the US it am trying to play BG3 on my xbox rog and it keeps wanting me to buy ultimate. I check my sub and it says I have ultimate but cant play any games that would use cloud.

All seems fixed to me - Store, Gamepass, Dashboard and games all now working fine again (U.K. 9.20pm).
I did do a restart when I first encountered the problem - not sure if that will help others clear out any gremlins.
Just checked Xbox Status page, and all green. Typical October. This thing always happens at this time of the year.
It’s ok guys Microsoft is taking steps to prevent this from happening again.
They fired another 7k people and replaced them with A.I.!
At least we could still play games 😂
