Here we go, Dragon Quest fans!

Square Enix has announced today that Dragon Quest 7 (or Dragon Quest VII, if you want to use the real title) is getting a special "Reimagined" version for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (and other platforms) on February 5th, 2026.

You can see an early glimpse of this in the trailer above, showing off the "new hand-crafted visual style that bursts with personality and charm". This game, if you don't know, was originally released back in 2000, and it also received a remake in 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS, but we've never had the ability to play it on Xbox in any form before.

"This new version of the game features a new hand-crafted visual aesthetic that brings the world and its characters to life like never before! Not only that, but revamped battle mechanics and quality-of-life features make the game feel fresh and modern - whether you’re a new player or series veteran.

The story has also been significantly streamlined. Told through a series of vignettes with an overarching narrative, it’s been reworked to be pacier and more accessible to players - while still maintaining the narrative depth the game is known for."

This series is obviously legendary when it comes to RPGs, and based on all the improvements they're making here, it sounds like Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined will prove an excellent new entry for both newcomers and veterans.

Pre-orders should be live on the Xbox Store later today, and here are a few screenshots:
