Let's talk Turok: Origins! This game was first revealed back in December of last year, and we've been extremely intrigued by it ever since - it's also since become available to wishlist on the Xbox Store if you're interested.
Anyway, we don't have a date yet for this, nor do we have any real idea of when it'll be coming out, but one of the game's developers has actually been talking about its Xbox performance targets as part of Gamescom 2025 this month.
As pointed out by Wccftech, game director Jesús Iglesias mentioned during a presentation that Turok: Origins is targeting 60 frames per-second on Xbox Series X, but unfortunately they haven't been able to make the Xbox Series S version work above 30FPS. Maybe that could change eventually, but it doesn't sound like it right now.
"When asked about the latter console's smaller sibling, the Xbox Series S, Iglesias admitted that the same wouldn't apply there, as the studio simply found no way to make that happen."
Don't let that put you off though! Turok: Origins still looks like an interesting new project from Saber Interactive, and we've even got some hands on impressions from the past few days courtesy of a few outlets that attended the event.
We'll leave those for you down below, and let us know if you're excited for Turok: Origins in the comments.
GameSpot
"While I would still prefer to be able to get the chance to experience Turok: Origins in a single-player scenario, this first hands-on has nonetheless put aside any initial doubts I might have had. In Saber Interactive Spain's hands, a franchise many had assumed would remain a fossil looks like it's getting a revival that could actually stick around this time."
GameReactor
"Turok: Origins largely seems like a game that will pull you in with vibes and aura. Do you like the look of the main characters, the shooting, and the dinosaurs? Then you'll probably enjoy Turok: Origins. But, if you're looking for a more substantial narrative, deeper class abilities and less of a sense of mindless fun, then I'm not sure what you're doing looking at the dinosaur shooter."

"As a first taster of this game, I’m certainly intrigued and curious to see more of how Saber is reimagining and rebooting this franchise. Thirty minutes was not really long enough to dig deep into the various gameplay mechanics, the co-op and to appreciate the differences between a bunch of different loadouts, but there’s clearly a lot of variety baked into the new narrative, good touches like the 1st and 3rd person toggle, and bombastic dinosaur battling. There’s still a fondness for Turok from the N64’s heyday, and a new beginning could certainly bring this series back to the forefront."
TheGamer
"By most metrics, Turok: Origins is shaping up to be a well-executed video game. It looks nice, it plates well, and it appears to share worthwhile reverence for the brand it’s bringing back to life. But that unfortunately can’t prevent it from feeling achingly predictable as it attempts to chase modern design trends that are already growing long in the tooth. Huge parts of me want the full game to prove me wrong, but perhaps this once-beloved property should have stayed extinct."
