While we did include it in our "games coming to Xbox next week" roundup this past weekend, UBOAT's Xbox release date was only announced last Friday, so we're deciding to call this one a "shadow drop" for consoles!

For those who haven't come across it before, UBOAT is a "survival sandbox with crew management mechanics", serving as a simulator of a submarine from the World War 2 era. It's got "Very Positive" reviews on Steam based on over 10,000 user reviews, and a press release tells us that it's already sold over 1 million copies on PC.

It's said to be a spiritual successor to the Silent Hunter series of games from 1996-2010, and the crew management mechanics are apparently reminiscent of Fallout Shelter.

Looking through the reviews on Steam, it seems to be nearly all good feedback on there, although many have pointed out that it's a very complicated game to learn and requires patience. The few Xbox reviews on the Microsoft Store are generally positive as well, although some people have said the controls are a little clunky and there are bugs.

Anyway, if you're keen on picking this one up ASAP, you can now find UBOAT at a price of £22.49 / $26.99 for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. We'll leave you with more details and screenshots below.

UBOAT is a simulator of a submarine from WWII era, yet different than all you have seen so far. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.

In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish.
