The Alters Passes 280K Sales Following Xbox Game Pass Launch

I've read a few posts by developers bleating on about how gamepass isn't a good thing.
I've been of the understanding that releasing a ***** game, whether it's on Gamepass or not, people simply won't play it/buy it.
There's been some right dirge released over the years, both at a price and gamepass that I haven't even been bothered to look at or download and try 'for free' and lo and behold they have been made the same people who moan about the above.

@TheOldHunter4K If it wasn't good for developers then they wouldn't sign on the dotted line, guaranteed money versus lost sales is always a risk but I guess the likes of The Alters and Expedition 33 shows you can have both.

Also those who bang on about Game Pass forget that the 2nd hand market has been around for nearly 35 years, how many sales have been lost over the years from those sales.

I don’t usually like survival games or narrative focus games but both aspects of their game hit so well. I’m really loving it.

Poll question—is it only for people who would rather rent than own? Can the people who prefer to buy the game and not go the gamepass route still vote? The way the poll header is worded is very specific, as if just playing it on Xbox alone doesn’t make you worthy enough to vote.

@Balaam_ good grief, you really take this internet world in which you exist far too seriously. You're making out as if a poll on a videogame news site is discriminatory. It's just a poll.

From what I've seen, that discourse is centered around game pass devaluing games and causing Xbox players to stop buying games. It will create a scenario where it isn't worth it for developers to port games to Xbox unless they secure a game pass deal. This is why we assume there will be no Xbox games next gen - just PC. MS knows the numbers, they can't pay every developer to be on game pass. So they will throw in the towel and have a platform that costs devs nothing to port to.

A game on game pass selling 280k copies isn't shocking to anyone with any view on the service.

I played it a lot, all the way to the end. I also went back a few saves to try some different endings. All in all, I was really hooked with the game. I also loved frostpunk on my series X, and can't wait to play frostpunk 2 in it as well.
