We're kicking off this week's batch of Xbox Game Pass titles today with Volcano Princess, which officially arrived for the service on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming a few hours ago.
This marks the game's debut on Xbox, although it's been on Steam since back in April of 2023 where it's received an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating based on almost 40,000 user reviews, so it's done extremely well for itself!
Here's what a couple of the most recent reviews had to say about it:
totallynotsax on Steam: "Really sweet and surprisingly deep parenting sim. Volcano Princess REALLY surprised me. You play as a single dad raising your daughter, and the way the game handles both parents, especially the mom, is subtle but emotional. She's not present, but her absence is felt in a quiet way. It's a sweet, meaningful game with charming art, cozy vibes."
guppydays on Steam: "This game is honestly so addictive and it makes me want to get all the different endings and storylines. Would recommend if you're into life simulators!"
As mentioned, Volcano Princess is essentially a parenting sim, or more specifically a "parenting-simulator-RPG adventure" that sees you "preparing the next monarch by finding her hobbies, training her for battle, and befriending the citizens she'll one day protect".
We're definitely intrigued to try this out and see if it lives up to the hype, although keep in mind there's no native version for Xbox One - so it's only for current-gen consoles, PC and cloud streaming via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
