We've still got a long way to go until the release of GTA 6 on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, especially since it was recently delayed to May 2026, but you can now wishlist the game on the Xbox Store for the first time.
Now, to be honest, this doesn't feel particularly interesting to us considering it's "not currently available" on the page itself (there's nothing to pre-order yet, for example), but fans are excited that it's finally appeared on Xbox at least.
And actually, you can kind of pre-install GTA 6 on Xbox right now! To do this, you'll need to head to the official Xbox app on Android or iOS, search for Grand Theft Auto VI, and hit the "Install To" button in order to begin the download.
Understandably, you're not getting the full version of GTA 6 by pre-installing it on Xbox at the moment, hence why pressing the "Play" button does nothing other than display a "too early" message - almost a year too early in fact!
Instead, it's a 300MB placeholder file that will sit in your "My Games & Apps" library until the full thing is ready to download — probably in May of next year — at which point it'll show up as an update.
Feel free to go and do that if you want (I have!), and hopefully we'll have news to share about GTA 6 pre-orders before the end of the year. Let's hope Take-Two doesn't slap too much of a high price tag on it... we'll have to wait and see.
