Ready to go fishing in Fallout 76?! That's exactly what you can do as part of the new update "Gone Fission", which officially launched for Xbox and other platforms yesterday. However, the feedback has been a bit mixed so far.
The majority of players seem to be enjoying it as things stand, with some fans even suggesting it's their favourite addition in the game's history! Here's a look at some of the positive reception on the Fallout 76 subreddit:
Bethesda is specifically advertising with this Fallout 76 update that "anywhere you can swim, you can fish" - opening up tons of possibilities for casting your rod wherever you see fit. Here's how the official blurb describes it:
"Head over to Fisherman’s Rest, a new location in the Mire where you’ll begin your fishing journey. Here you will meet a new trio of new characters. The disoriented Captain Raymond Clark, a mysterious new figure who goes by the name The Fisherman, and Linda-Lee, the Fisherman’s adorable pet hermit crab. During the “Casting Off” questline you’ll receive a working Fishing Rod - allowing you to walk up to any body of water and start fishing. When deciding where you can fish, remember the mantra: “If you can swim in it, you can fish in it.”
It's a very cool update on paper, but there are definitely some players who aren't quite so taken by it:
As you can see from that last comment, one of the main criticisms is that Fallout 76 players are feeling forced to engage with fishing for daily quests, which is irritating those who aren't big fans of the activity in general.
Aside from that though, it sounds like fishing is mainly being received well by the majority, so we're intrigued to give it a go! Don't forget that Fallout 76 is playable at no extra charge on Xbox Game Pass as well, so if you're a member of the service, you can download the game and check out this update right now for "free". Enjoy!
