Six Xbox Games Are Shutting Down Their Servers In June 2025

Yikes there's quite a few here. That said, I'm glad RE is getting shut down. They need to stop trying to push MP into the franchise and simply try making something akin to Dead by Daylight or F13. Perhaps even bring back Outbreak 1 and 2.

@joeyflannel Couldn't agree more. Too ahead of their time (not gameplay wise but access to internet wise). Remaster them in a collection as-is and I reckon they'd go down a treat.

XDefiant was ass. I had really high hopes for it too but was extremely disappointed.

Live service games are a cancer of the game industry I Hope they all shutdown except the free to play ones

@Kaloudz This is what I never understood about Capcom... they slap the RE name on anything MP related, good or not, when they already had a winning formula. Why not remake Outbreak games and massively expand the amount of randomization in missions to make it truly replayable?

Even if not.. Mercenaries co-op and Versus was great. They have two proven ideas already but refuse them. I don't get it.

Also RIP Xbone First Descendant. Was playing that casually, but must've been just me doing so. ;_;7

@Elbow Could not agree more. Outbreak was a great couple of games with some really neat ideas in there (specifically the Zoo) and would make an amazing comeback IMO. I'm not sure if the lack of their MP efforts taking off has prevented them from wanting to pursue that sort of route - especially when what they're doing is working so well for them - but I know I, a longstanding RE fan, would love to go back to Outbreak.

I agree with Mercenaries and Vs too. It's like they're looking to break into that live-service market - which is hard enough for even the best of games to compete in.

XDefiant turned out to be much better than I thought. It felt like "no ***** CoD". But Ubisoft being Ubisoft... they just don't know how to make live service games.

Xdefiant was actually pretty decent they just took far too long to fix the hit detection issues and too slow adding new content. I put about 100 hours into it and it felt like the good old days of CoD without SBMM tuned to the max.

Why are the servers for a Madden game thats less than 5 years old being shut down already?

I haven't played XDefiant even once.
Same goes to Resident Evil Reverse.

@AccessibleDaydream yeah. At least with WWE. It doesn't even take 2 years. They were shutting down all online servers for WWE 2K23 several months before 2K25 came out. Felt like a crime.

And nothing of value was lost.

Know of them, nothing of value here at all.

XDefiant I get why people like it but to me it looked like any other generic shooter with barely much exciting ideas other then vibe and a few tweaks.

But my interest is PS3/360 shooters with their mechanics, PS4/Xbox One gen players don't care so to me I have no interest in the era of generic shooters ideas and settings at all regardless of business model.

There is a reason I had more ideas for new modes (while still being different to Splatoon) then Foamstars had identity.

Then again people have Ironsight and others to go for such things as well. Not the same I know but even still.

Most multiplayer shooters by Indies are terrible anyways so the big ones are either hit or miss but better quality even if still rather boring.

The rest are well known IPs........ decent games..... yeah I got nothing. I don't care about any of these at all.

@TheSimulator RE Operation? As in Operation Racoon City? That was an amazing action game imo. I used to talk to the devs of that game (SSG) all the time. Lovely people. If they did another Operation game, I'd love for it to be canon this time.
