Over the weekend, some fresh MindsEye gameplay has cropped up online, about a month or so out from its official Xbox launch on June 10th. This is the upcoming action-thriller led by former Rockstar president Leslie Benzies, and in the wake of that recent GTA 6 delay, we've suddenly become much more interested in what MindsEye can bring to the table in 2025.
So, of course, we've been checking out some of that fresh gameplay - an example of which we've thrown up above for your viewing pleasure. You can of course tell that some of GTA's unmatched levels of AAA polish are missing here - but MindsEye still looks like it'll deliver on some Grand Theft Auto fundamentals, before we can all go hands-on with the real thing next year.
Here's what the MindsEye dev team hopes to bring to the table with its new IP:
"MindsEye is a narrative driven, single-player action-adventure thriller set in the near-future fictional desert city of Redrock.
Get ready for explosive combat using an array of advanced weaponry in missions on foot, behind the wheel and in the air. MindsEye is a richly detailed thriller with best-in-class cinematics and a thought-provoking story about when technology and ambition collide."
One thing we're not quite as sure about with MindsEye is how open and varied the game and its mission structure will be. Looking at this fresh footage, we're seeing lots of high-octane car chases and intense shootouts, but how linear the experience will be remains to be seen. You'll seemingly be able to explore the city of Redrock, but it's safe to assume that the scale of the game won't match the famous Rockstar series.
Either way, we're quite looking forward to trying out MindsEye, especially because it's so close to releasing. The debut effort from developer Build A Rocket Boy launches for Xbox Series X|S on June 10th, 2025.
