If you've been following the news in the world of Fortnite, you may well know that Fortnite: GALACTIC BATTLE is set to begin on Friday, May 2nd - and it marks the biggest Star Wars collaboration ever in Fortnite history.
This is a Star Wars themed season that will feature new content and gameplay every week, including the ability to "play as Darth Jar Jar or Emperor Palpatine, while piloting ships like X-wings and TIE Fighters". The season will conclude with an "epic in-game live event" known as Death Star Sabotage.
Perhaps most interestingly, Fortnite is partnering with Disney+ to bring the new Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld TV series to the game before it's seen anywhere else. On May 2nd, a Star Wars Watch Party Island will go live in Fortnite across all platforms (including Xbox), and from 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST you'll be able to watch the first two episodes of this TV series.
Of course, Fortnite is totally free to download on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S if you're interested in checking out the new Star Wars season, and we're presuming there will be a paid battle pass as part of it as well.
If you're willing to link your Epic Games and MyDisney accounts, you'll even get a free First Order Stormtrooper Outfit in Fortnite - and apparently this is part of Epic Games' bigger plan to build a Disney universe connected to the game.
Personally, this might be the season that drags me back into Fortnite after many months away. I'm a sucker for Star Wars content, especially if I can play as Darth Jar Jar, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this fares on Friday!
