The team behind Xbox Game Pass mega-hit Palworld has announced 'Pocketpair Publishing', a new game-making company set up to help fund games by other developers. The team's Publishing Manager says "we've been working on this for so long" and that "big things" are coming for the publisher moving forward.
Speaking of those big things, Pocketpair has already announced its first title under the new arrangement. Indie dev Surgent Studios (Tales of Kenzera: Zau) is working on a horror game in conjunction with this new Pocketpair publishing arm, although the project is yet to be named by the studio.
Here's a statement from the Palworld maker on this new venture:
"Making games is fun and we want to help you make games too! We understand the challenges of creating your dream game.
At Pocketpair, we’ve been fortunate to find success. Now, more than anything, we want to use that success to help other developers achieve theirs.
Making games is hard—especially when you’re going it alone. That’s why we’ve launched Pocketpair Publishing."
As hinted at in the above statement, the immense success of the team's Xbox Game Pass Pokémon-like Palworld has basically enabled this whole thing to happen - which is pretty amazing to see. Of course, the game is on other platforms, but the buzz created by a Game Pass release certainly helped push its popularity at the turn of last year.
After reading stories about Pocketpair's legal dealings with Nintendo in recent months, it's nice to see something a lot more positive come out of the Palworld studio. And, with all that seemingly behind them, the company is open and ready for further game pitches - which you can read more about via the company's publishing website.
