Roundup: Halo TV Show Season 2 Impressions Are Starting To Go Live Ahead Of Launch

Halo The Series returns this week on Paramount Plus, as the TV network's Halo adaptation moves into its second season. Ahead of the release of Season 2, some early reviews have gone live from various outlets - giving us a glimpse at how this second season of Halo the Series is shaping up.

Now, it should be noted that some of these impressions only cover the first episode, while others break down the first two episodes of Season 2. With that in mind, here's what the critics are saying about Halo The Series Season 2 so far:

Windows Central (4/5)

"Halo's second season kicks off with a solid start. A great battle sequence and a huge shake-up to the established hierarchy seems to have things pointed in the right direction, while the ominous dread of Covenant intent is building in the background."

CGMagazine (8/10)

"Halo Season 2 has done an excellent job at pushing the narrative forward while also developing its main characters in a way that doesn’t feel forced. With much better pacing and character moments, Season 2 seems to be telling a much more streamlined story while deepening our care for the characters involved."

GamesRadar (3/5)

"For those who are giving Halo a second chance, there’s a lot to like here. The doubters likely won’t be won over, but the engaging early Ackerson plotline, the increased presence of the Covenant, and an ever-charismatic Pablo Schreiber makes this mea-culpa-of-sorts a decent jumping-on point for newcomers and returnees alike."

Screen Rant (3/5)

"Halo season 2’s first episodes raise a number of questions and set up big events to come, and bringing the series’ diverging subplots together into a cohesive whole will be crucial to successfully tackling the monumental Reach storyline from the games. While the series can't quite find its footing with select characters and sometimes veers into predictability with its dialogue, the exploration of John, the man underneath the armored Master Chief, continues to be compelling, and the action is better than ever."

Radio Times (2/5)

"It won't be a huge surprise if many fans of the game prefer season 2, either. It seems many of their criticisms have been addressed, and there are clear parallels from the game that are designed to pay homage to the source material.

But, in a landscape where the video game adaptation curse has very much been broken with some spectacular pieces of television, I'm not sure that's enough."

So, the early reception for Halo Season 2 seems quite mixed then, although numerous reviews do point out an improvement on the show's first season. If you want to catch it yourself, Halo the Series returns to Paramount Plus on February 8 when the first two episodes go live.
