Remember Insignia? This is a free replacement for the original version of Xbox Live on the OG Xbox, and since the last time we talked about it here at Pure Xbox, it's continued to add countless new supported titles to its library.
In fact, with its first birthday taking place this week, Insignia now supports 150 games in total. The majority of these offer online matchmaking with other players, but some are just restricted to online "features" such as leaderboards.

As we've mentioned before with Insignia, there is currently a barrier to entry to get it working. The service requires you to jump through a few hoops in order to get it running on an original Xbox including soft-modding your system, which means it's something to be done at your own risk. As a result, the service is perhaps not as popular as it could be, with just over 8000 registered users at the time of writing.
That said, we think Insignia is absolutely awesome, and our ultimate hope here is that Microsoft finds a way to partner with the Insignia team to bring these games back online in an official capacity for original Xbox owners. If we could get rid of those hoops and make it a seamless process, it'd be a great way to revisit those classic Xbox titles.
