Assassin's Creed Mirage Becomes Ubisoft's 'Biggest New-Gen Launch' So Far

Ubisoft has taken to Twitter to thanks fans for making Assassin's Creed Mirage its "biggest new gen launch" yet, at least in terms of pure units sold. The back-to-basics entry arrived on Xbox Series X|S last week, whisking players off to 9th-century Baghdad, while stripping back many of the RPG mechanics present in the last few AC titles.

The company has also congratulated its Bordeaux studio, and any additional development partners, on reaching this goal and delivering a successful Assassin's Creed launch.

It's important to note that Ubisoft emphasises 'unit sales' here, meaning the likes of Assassin's Creed Valhalla may have earned the company more money overall, given it was a full priced release. Mirage is a much slimmer affair, with Ubisoft asking just $50 for the title on day one.

It remains to be seen exactly where the team takes its long-running franchise next. We know about multiple titles already being in development over at Ubisoft, but whether they'll stick to Mirage's format or go back to the Valhalla-style RPG is still unknown. For what it's worth, we really enjoyed the stripped-back nature of Assassin's Creed Mirage - which you can read all about down below!
