FH5 Xbox

During today's 'Forza Monthly' livestream, developer Playground Games has provided an update on some pretty big Forza Horizon 5 features. The first of which is Expansion 2 news; that being that FH5's second major DLC isn't coming until next year.

Thankfully, we'll get an update on the expansion in the new year, where we should learn about its general theme among other details. Expansion 1 launched back in the summer, bringing Hot Wheels Park back to the Horizon festival.

Another major chunk of Forza Horizon 5 news is that Playground is expanding the game's ray tracing capabilities. Sadly these updates don't apply to the console version (yet), but if you're playing on PC, in-game ray tracing is now available.

You'll need a pretty beefy setup to get in-game RT working, but the team has now added some options via the game's new 'Ultra' and 'Extreme' PC settings. Both new options provide different levels of ray tracing support — as shown in the above chart — and the team has also showcased the kind of hardware you'll need to play on these new settings. Playground recommends aiming for 'Ideal Spec' to run Forza Horizon 5 with ray tracing:

Hopefully we hear about ray tracing support on console at some stage, but given that the feature's PC implementation requires the top settings, we're not sure we'll ever see it on console. Forza Horizon 6 maybe? We'll have to wait and see.
