We've not really seen much gameplay of Disney Dreamlight Valley at this point, although each time we catch a glimpse of the title, it does intrigue us. This Animal Crossing meets Disney life sim seems like a pretty good mashup, and a new gameplay trailer shows us why.
This lengthy look at the game ahead of its early access release looks pretty impressive to be honest. The art style pops, as you'd expect for Disney, and the theming of different Disney franchises just looks like it works for this type of 'mundane activity simulator' type game. Yeah, we've not really sold it there have we... Anyway, take a look for yourself:
Once Disney Dreamlight Valley hits full release in 2023, it'll be free-to-play on all platforms. However, it's initial September 6th launch is in Early Access form, and that version will come to Xbox Game Pass on day one. Here's what to expect and, yep, sounds pretty Animal Crossing-esque to us!
In Dreamlight Valley, your adventures are as limitless as your customization options! You will be able to express your fandom by designing Disney and Pixar inspired outfits or by using the vast library of clothing in-game. Your home and village will also not be limited to one layout – you’ll be able to upgrade a number of elements in your dream world by collecting new items and buildings for your villagers.
Will you be trying this one out in early access on Game Pass? Do let us know!
Art style is spot on. And looks like one kids will love. Really not liking this trend of gamepass subscribers paying for early access f2p games though…the benefit of that is lost on me.
The irony of finally getting f2p games off one service (gold) only to have them part of another (and seemingly celebrate it)isn’t lost though… we sure showed them!
Thanks Disney but have no fandom to express - not for Disney and not for f2p.
Perhaps if GamePass took the Google Play Pass approach where ALL in game purchases were completely free then putting it on Game Pass may be forgiveable, but not as is.
To be honest, I’m probably going to wait until the Switch version releases before introducing my daughter to this game.
The graphics will but a bit lacking I imagine but she’s only 7 and plays Switch the most so it makes sense to just keep it for that platform.
I know it may seem odd coming to Game Pass early, but if we didn’t have Switches and it wasn’t free for it my daughter would have only gotten in on Xbox. I’m sure there are a lot of Xbox only families who will benefit.
I really like the look of this one!
