Bethesda Delays Starfield And Redfall To First Half Of 2023

Well, the news we were hoping we wouldn't have to hear has unfortunately come true... Bethesda has announced today that both Starfield and Redfall have been delayed from 2022 to the first half of 2023.

In a statement, the studios explained that they needed more time to realise their "incredible" ambitions:

"We can't wait for you to play Starfield, but we need some more time. We’re so thankful for all the support and encouragement and are excited to show you the game soon."

"Here at Arkane Austin, we've decided to delay the launch of Redfall. The team needs more time to bring the game to life. Thank you so much for your continued support. Redfall is our most ambitious game yet, and we can’t wait to show it off soon."

In a more generic statement, Bethesda advised that "we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions" of the two games, and confirmed that they'll both be getting a gameplay deep dive "soon". We presume that means our first look at gameplay will arrive at the Xbox Games Showcase in June.

Today's news is a painful blow without a doubt, but here's hoping it leads to two fantastic games next year.
