Since the release of Kena: Bridge of Spirits on PlayStation and PC platforms last week, Xbox players have been hungry to devour the game. Unfortunately, there are no concrete plans in place for a release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S systems, but developer Ember Lab's recent comments instil some hope.
Speaking to SegmentNext, the topic of whether the game would be reaching other platforms arose. While co-founder Josh Grier reiterated the game is a "timed exclusive" for PlayStation and the Epic Games Store, it was added that the studio plans to look into other platform releases after "a rest".
"We are currently focused in our launches for PlayStation and Epic Games store, which are timed exclusives. We will look into other platform releases after launch and a rest."
The team also added, "right now, with just a few days to launch, it’s very difficult to think about the next steps or future offerings". Of course, it's understandable given the fact that the game has only been in the wild for a few days.
The comments about it being a timed exclusive are no surprise. Digging into the original trailer for Kena: Bridge of Spirits last year, it was revealed at the time to be a timed console exclusive. With such a positive reception to the game, it's expected that Xbox may be on the cards, and we hope it's something Ember Lab visits after a well-deserved rest.

That is good news - looks like a fun experience would much rather play it on my Series X than my base PS4.

I've finished it on PC, it's a great game. If it releases on Xbox I'll play it again for sure!
At this point, I’m sure it’s coming to at least Xbox, maybe Switch if they’re willing to undertake that sort of work, but like they say, it’s a timed exclusive, I can wait. I’ve got no shortage of other games to play.
Finished it over the weekend. Loved every moment (except the difficulty spike on the last two bosses!)
It's a truly beautiful game, while not without it's minor flaws it had enough of the X factor to move it from good to great for me.
Story is about 12-15 hours. It took me just short of 20 hours to collect everything. It never outstayed it's welcome which is a huge plus to me over the now frequent 40-100+ hour cut and paste fetch quests.
Hopefully it comes to Xbox sooner rather than later so more people can enjoy it! I'll happily play it again!
What about Actraiser Renaissance? That should come to Xbox as well. I'd play both on Series X.
Hopefully it does come to Xbox so more people get to play this little gem. Don't let that cutesy look kid you though, the game is no pushover. Just finished my Master difficulty playthrough this morning and it's absolutely brutal at times.
Absolutely amazing game and the graphics are beautiful on next gen.
Between this and Tales of Arise for game of the year from me
@UltimateOtaku91 I played it on PS4 Pro and it was a stunner to look at on there. Unfortunately I haven't got a PS5 yet but I look forward to playing it again and seeing it at it's full potential when I manage to get one!
Not fussed about the game....won't be getting it on ps5 only way I might try is if it came to gamepass
Anyone else sick of being an afterthought....?
Next couple years are gonna be nuts with all the Xbox acquisitions bearing fruit and all these timed exclusives coming over.
@armondo36 Many publishers send the PS4 (!) version of their last games to reviewers, because it was the most popular console last gen, e.g. Sega, Sonic Colours. On the bright side, we got all the Yakuza and Final Fantasy games on Game Pass and, like @Trmn8r mentioned, we're getting tons of high-quality exclusives from 2022 onwards. But the best thing about Xbox is knowing that our digital purchases are respected unlike on PS4-PS5 and Wii U-Switch. This makes up for everything else, more so considering there will be another console after Series X.
@armondo36
Can't really blame the dev here.
This is an indie game and the dev's first game as well, so if Sony and Epic come along giving them money up front for timed exclusivity, they will bite their hand off!
@armondo36
Do you need a cuddle?
I hope it arrives next spring for Xbox. I can't wait though even longer if need be.
No biggie, I'm not that impressed with the game.
I already know it's coming to Xbox. I just hope it's not Playstation priced.
Q) Would you like to see Kena: Bridge of Spirits join Xbox?
A) More vibrant, family-friendly games hitting the Xbox Series X is always a good thing and it does look pretty neat.
I hear it's also a somewhat short game which is just my cup of tea. I'll be keeping an ear out on news as to whether this release on Xbox in the future.
